I say 600 million. I’m basing that on it getting good reviews. That will make it a hit, given it’s modest budget, purportedly 102m.

It's in a crowded slate but it'd probably break even.

It's in a crowded slate but it'd probably break even. Oh hell. The same day as Aquaman and Welcome to Marwan (which looks good actually, I saw the documentary it’s based on)? That will hurt Bumblee’s opening weekend (Aquaman particularly).

Mediocre to poor. Critics will need to be impressed just to get casual audiences even slightly interested after the previous 2 TFs.
Which could be a shame if the producers would in fact wish to separate from Michael Bay's lane. No money, no sequels.

That will be true for the short term future at least, but the Transformers films made billions. The studios will know there is potential there for revenue. All they have to do is pitch the films as different to their predecessors. Adding a Stan Bush soundtrack is just one of the tricks they still have up their sleeve.

I think the timing of the release will definitely give it legs. It will make the most of the holiday period. It has competition, but positive reviews will convince audiences to make Bumblebee the second or third film to watch during the period.

Mary Poppins & Aquaman are the biggest names I see immediately around it. Christmas holidays this year gonna feel like summer movie season. Weird.

Anyway I’m not concerned. A sequel is certain. That’s because it has good reviews and more importantly has audience approval. When a film makes average BO but strong audience approval then they generally get a sequel. After a couple of years it’s audience would have expanded and it’s box office should be stronger.

Its sequel won't leap into Michael Bay territory as if BB won back TF fans. I hope they pull the trigger on retconned cinematic canon & keep us in the classic G1 lane. More Cybertron would be nice. More Autobots & Decepticons exploring Earth would be nice. More G1 style design for the likes of Devastator & Dinobots would be excellent.
