It's tricky to make a movie about an uptight man and a free-spirited woman who fall in love. If the woman drives the man crazy, it has to be a way for her to teach the man how to loosen up. Otherwise, she'll come off as mean. In WHO'S THAT GIRL?, NIKKI FINN treats everybody the same way and acts the same way in every situation. That's why the movie's romance is hard to buy. The title is ironic. If I ever run into NIKKI, I wouldn't want to know who she is; I'd run away from her! Everything about her is so annoying, including the way she talks. I couldn't even understand what she was saying half the time. So why would I want to watch a movie about her? I didn't. Specially not one that's so badly written and directed and that has such a weak soundtrack. Griffin Dunne's performance is good. As for Madonna... Well, at first I thought that she was believable in the role. Her annoying gestures and faces seemed to fit the character. However, as the movie progressed, she kept on doing that in several situations and I realized that they were her attempts at being funny. I think she, instead of that animal, should've played the role of the cougar. It's something she would perfect years later. 1/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog (in English, in Spanish or in Italian).
