You want to see more incidences like this huh? : www.thetimes.co.uk/article/yazidi-slave-girl-meets-isis-captor-in-german-street-wkj20m3fv
If you’re not a lefty you do a great impersonation of one. Illogical, inconsistent, naive and completely emotion driven.
About 3 years after I left, at the same location I had lived, IRA gunmen killed an RAF servicemen, also killing his kid, with his wife surviving injuries. This occurred one year before I moved back out to Germany (right as they were about to unify). During this period in Germany (different base), a school trip to a Dutch town across the border was delayed because Australian tourists had been mistaken for Brit military personnel by more IRA gunmen who opened fire on them in the same town. The school trip went ahead, but we were not to wear school uniforms as a safety precaution. Also during this period, the IRA had been conducting a campaign of car-bombings, so all Brit personnel had to have German licence plates - it was also regulation to check under the vehicle for any surprises. Personnel from this base also were deployed for Desert Shield, then Desert Storm, so again, fears of Islamic extremists raised its' head.
During the period between leaving Germany again, and returning a third team, there was an incident at an Army base in Germany which came briefly under mortar attack.
Third time in Germany. Aside from the obligatory bomb scares, pretty smooth sailing, though going to the local NAAFI (before Spar took over) always presented a bleak reminder of reality - huge concrete barriers in front of tge shop, and shielding the car park, to prevent drive by shootings, and absorb the impact of a bomb. Then, its Iraqi stomping time again. And right about the time I was to leave Germany for the final time, the Kosovo War flared up. Protesters at the gates, resentment from the locals, signs going up in shops and the go kart track - NO BRITS. There were many immigrants in the area from the Balkan region, it didn't help that the base I was at, the fighter-bombers were actually directly involved in the campaign. There was fear of reprisals against us, the near NAAFI now had soldiers on guard checking IDs, and the threat level reached Orange, the highest I've seen it go (Red being the highest alert level).
So, Muslim, Irish, Balkan folk, Communist would-be German revolutionaries - bogeymen for different situations. 👍
Terrorists won't target just the folk living within safe borders, they will target people in other nations. Embassies, consuls, military bases, volunteers who just want to help people, tourists. The IRA have gone as far as Gibraltar to target people, Palestinians went to Germany to take Israeli athletes hostage and then killed them, old Japanese terrorists went to Israel and shot up an Catholics. Some of these groups have received support from the likes of the old Soviet Union, Iran, Libya, Syria - and not just the Muslim ones.
Of course, I've only touched on the forms of terrorism I'm most familiar. As pointed out, the people you despise as a whole are seen as fair game for right-wing extremists. Neo-Nazi terrorists, ultranationalist thugs, these people exist - they just haven't been able to cause much of an impact. Border security won't help with domestic terror groups.
There have been Jewish terrorists, there have even been Christian terrorists - particularly in Lebanon during their Civil War where one militia receiving support from Israel slaughtered thousands of Muslims. Not just terrorists - whole families. Then there's the animal rights groups who attack chippies, target people involved in medical tests on animals. There are also the folk who target abortion clinics - this being a form of terrorism.
A terrorist to some, a freedom fighter to others. Well, that's what the Reagan administration thought when supporting the Contras, and the mudjahedeen in Afghanistan. 👍
I'm more central, some issues I lean to the left, others to the right. I think it obvious to my fellow Board buddies which issues I swing left and right over. 😝 I'm certainly not naive about this particular thread topic. 😝
Yer wasting your time. He's a nasty wee racist, with an anti-muslim agenda. He only wants to hear what supports his narrative.
