The main problem with Disney MCU is that their films are too main stream. They appeal to the common dumb low iq cinema goers which is why they make billions at the BO. Now this isnt a slant to anyone on this forum because we are at the very least avid film fans, considering we have an account and post on film forums. The casual movie goer however doesnt and is only interested in seeing 3 or 4 movies a year, usually a couple of Marvel movies, a star wars movie, a Jurassic park, a fast & furious and maybe an animated picture. All have similar formulas. Simple plot, funny sidekick characters, linear storytelling, lots of CGI action and usually a 1 dimensional villain. These audiences dont really understand or appreciate the mid level to indie style of filmaking so when something like Blade Runner 2049 or the recent Planet of the Apes comes out it tanks because they dont follow the blockbuster MCU/Star Wars formula. And this is where im not confident they will do xmen right. No xmen film has crossed $800m, and in a twisted logical sense that is a good thing because Xmen has never gone main stream with its product. It hasnt needed to dumb down and try to appeal to mass audiences whilst taking away a lot of the artistry and indie feel to their top movies like Logan and DOFP. Its very difficult to achieve high BO and have a high quality project which is why The Dark Knight is the king of comic book genre when you combine box office and rating. reason also mcu has sequel slumps. thor 2, gotg 2, iron man 2 and 3, AOU, Ant man 2.
These movies get dumber and appeal to even the lowest of IQ. disney did admit this strategy.
meanwhile xmen movies tend to have stronger sequels (X2, DOFP) following the pattern of empire strikes back, TDK, Terminator 2, Spiderman 2. reason is because the directors and writers are more tempted to push the envelope of what was already an intelligent first film.

that scene is just usual fox xmen nonsense. a real deep sceen is when dr erskine points out that the germans were the first ones conqered by the nazis and no one remembers that. that is pretentious nonsense completely ignorant of historical facts. Democratic elections are exactly the opposite of being conquered. I doubt that this is from X-Men, sounds like MCU. no...not from xmen. in xmen, Nazis act like nazis. reason magneto has a personal reason to hate them.
what is actually even more awful with the mcu is. captain america 1 had some nazis stuff in it, it came out also in 2011 but for some reason the movie was just dismissed compared to first class. I think it is because first class just had more depth and story telling to it.

Like Star Wars fans and to a significant extent Spiderman fans, why do you hate the MCU Disney formula and think so poorly of mcu movies that you wanted less association with it, instead it is being forced on you guys. I know I have given my reasons for my MCU dislike. 1. Too formulaic 2. Poor story telling 3. Lack of real film making. ie CGI, Cinematography, directional input 4. over produced and too cooperate 5. Made the reception of comic book movies worse 6. Little content and context 7. Abused the cinematic concept compared to other things like the buffyverse. I would like to hear yours. Bonus QuestionDid you feel for Star Wars fans when Star Wars fans said a film like Logan would have been a fitting end to Luke Skywalker and the Skywalker saga instead they got an MCU movie pretending to be Star Wars I felt for many Star Wars fans because I am one. Your question should be re-phrased to "Question for X-Men fans who hate MCU". We don't all hate MCU. In fact, I like MCU, I like Fox's X-Men, I liked Sony's Spiderman, I like DCEU... This is the best time to like CBM's. We're getting so many of them everyone can get what they want!

Just a quick question. What metric are you using to define Sequel Slumps?

Well I'm an MCU, X-Men and Spider-Man fan...apparently it seems I can't exist seeing that it's assumed MCU fans can't like any other franchise and vice versa

Interesting you say that because I noticed an odd pattern in regards to "sequel slumps" with Marvel. They are usually by a repeat MCU director.
Jon Favreau directed the superior Iron Man as well as the disappointing Iron Man 2 (which I'm pretty sure his movie 'Chef' is about)
Joss Whedon with the nerdgasm that was The Avengers followed by the cliche Age of Ultron storyline. A.I. wants to destroy humanity? Seriously?
James Gunn could've had a good sequel to his enjoyable GotG but he undermined Vol. 2's emotional angle with some cringe-worthy comedy (mostly from Drax)
I would also say that I was disappointed with Civil War and thought it was a lesser film than (the MCU's best) Winter Soldier, each by the Russo's, but some would disagree.
I disagree about Thor 2 being a sequel slump because the first one wasn't that great either. Aside from some great casting, especially Hiddleston, the first two are pretty unremarkable.
Haven't seen Ant-Man 2 but I enjoyed the first and will probably like this one. I'm positive it's no Logan, Winter Soldier, or Spider-Man 2, but it will entertain me.
