movieweb.com/little-mermaid-remake-live-action-cast-zendaya-disney/I’m gonna have to say: I HOPE TO GOD NOT!!! Don’t get me wrong I think Zendaya is a wonderful actress, but a big NO for Ariel. If they go through with this, it will just show that they’re forgetting who their own characters are. Ariel is not an African American. She’s Caucasian. Before anyone says “well they made the wardrobe and the feather duster black in Beauty and The Beast” those were minor characters. So I had no problem with that. If they want Zendaya in the Little Mermaid, make her a new character. Disney has so far nailed all the live action remakes, so why start screwing up now? Of course this is only just a rumor, so i’m probably getting myself worked up for nothing, but knowing Disney they’ll probably cast her.

Also I was even ok with Idris Elba playing Roland in the Dark Tower movie, because that movie acted as a sequel to the books and started the journey over in a different way and Idris was awesome as Roland.

Besides, they have that Afro-centric Princess movie in the works (forgot the name). Unless they had Tessa Thompson in mind for that, she'd be good for that. |

Glad that i’m not being called a racist for not wanting this. If Disney is gonna continue to make live action remakes then they need to stay true to the characters or else they will get backlash. STICK TO WHAT HAS WORKED DISNEY. DO NOT GO WOKE!!!

Disney has no problem making Mulan all Asian-but they do not like white folk movies--to them a room full of whites is a Hitler rally.

I thought Bella Thorne was confirmed to be playing Ariel in the Live Action Disney adaption of 'The Little Mermaid' or was that for the other movie? There were even pictures of her dressed as Ariel and she was telling people it was her favourite Disney movie but it is confusing 'cause there are three Live Action movies of 'Little Mermaid' and one is a Disney movie, the second is a Universal movie and the third is an indie movie which has already come out.

Fucking idiot. Wrong!!! Disney is doing live action remakes and should stick to the original character design if they are gonna call these remakes of their animated movies. Disney should not be giving into SJW’s. There are plenty of other characters for Zendaya to play. If they do this they are gonna create tons of backlash. Even though Ariel is not their own character because she’s from a story, this interpretation of Ariel is Disney. Disney knows the character better than Sjw’s. Sjw’s Need to keep their fucking mouths shut because they constantly ruin movies. |

There are about 6 or 7 different LITTLE MERMAID movies floating around, Disney has the one (which I wouldn't mind seeing Zendaya in, then again, Ariel was never my favorite and I'm not terribly attached). Warner Brothers had one floating around for a while. I think one studio even had two- a direct to DVD/kiddie adventure and then a theatrical-release-planned/more adult and mature one that would have a PG13 rating. One studio was supposedly planning a version that was more psychological-thriller and less pretty girl singing while she styles her hair with a fork.
