It's a solid & thrilling film. While it was implausible but it certainly didn't have an ending that wimped out.

I like the ending but yeah, it's a downer.
I like Joan Cusack's role-when she sneaks up on the wife who is on the phone and gives her a sinister look.
Plus Jeff Bridges has a lot of hysterics and Bridgian shouting.
Be afraid of blonde kids! Very afraid.

I agree it was a solid film. Powerful subject matter that is handled quite well. Ballsy ending for sure!

Been meaning to watch that one again. High tension film with good acting. Don't remember the exact ending except it involved a car with a bomb in the trunk or some such. From what I can remember I'd have to go 8/10 for being something a little different.

What messed me up was the chick who probably took words spoken in Jeff Bridges' class and successfully insinuated that they came from him.

I was also thinking about the scene where the Dude goes to sneak around Robbins' desk and the daughter is giving him the evil eye.
Yeah that student at the end was creepy as well.
On Siskel and Ebert they criticized his behavior-that he acted too paranoid and angry right from the get go so he was too easy to peg as an angry nut.
His FBI wife getting shot by the Ruby Ridge hillbilly holding the baby was a memorable image as well.

I haven't seen the movie and so long that I actually had to look it up. I can't speak to the quality to it since I haven't seen in a while, but from what I remember I always thought it was a decent thriller.

9/10 effective thriller that kept me awake wondering how well I really knew my neighbors.
