It's a large area of social housing. Houses and blocks of flats provided by councils for those most in need/disadvantaged in society. They can be a tad rough. Ours is an interesting mix of high unemployment, alcohol and drug dependency, mental health problems, ex-offenders, etc. No, not like Seinfeld at all... I think you have similar over there, you call them 'the projects'? So you're on the dole. That partially explains why you're such a curmudgeon. Not much reason to be upbeat when you're a deadbeat drunk. Curmudgeon, moi? Life and soul of the party me mate.

Usually right about now. Halloween (John Carpenter) Night Of The Living Dead some of TCM's October lineup

Like 2 weeks from now. Elaborate decorations, elaborate confections, elaborate costumes, and elaborate events.
And movies of course. Sleepy Hollow is an absolute must in October. As is the Disney Sleepy Hollow animated short... as is reading the original story.

I do a horror movie marathon every year. For the last few years I've limited it to October, but this year I intend to commence on the 18th September (or thereabouts). For 6 weeks solid, it's gonna be nothing but horror movies and horror-themed TV shows. Can't wait!
I have a good idea about which movies I'd like to see, but no concrete list as I like to give myself plenty of wriggle room when it comes to choosing titles. I'll probably avoid double bills (as in 2 movies in a single night) as they've almost caused my head to explode in years past.
Will decorate my mantelpiece (aka 'the Halloween altar') in mid-October, as per tradition.

I don’t really have a solid lineup. I love horror so I watch whatever I feel like. But Halloween, NOES, The Lost Boys and lately Friday the 13th have been consistent watches.

Actually gave it a watch for the first time a year ago after letting it collect dust. Don't know what I was waiting for. Love the atmosphere. Own the 'short story' and give that a read every Halloween season too.

Do you ever change things up and watch the sequels instead? Friday the 13th, in particular, has some sequels that surpass the original IMO.

I like em all.

October 1st usually-I watch nothing but horror for the whole month. This year there are a few 50th anniversaries to honor-so I have Dracula Has Risen From the Grave and the Devil Rides Out, and maybe Rosemary's Baby. I suppose Night of the Living Dead should be on the viewing as well. I already watched the Lost Continent and Destroy All Monsters--unfortunately the latter was not the AIP dub so I may hold out until summer 1969 for another viewing since that is when it was officially released in North America.

Ha well to tell the truth, I don't care for it (seen it some years ago), but since it is so famous I thought about giving it a run. I keep putting it off.
I saw the Wicker Man back in the 90s and I admit, the burning scene WAS very disturbing-but I watched it again recently and wow--I dont think it even deserves to be called a horror film. It's more experimental than horror-and completely ridiculous. Woodward was too much of a jerk, and could have easily busted out of that wicker cage--instead of screaming prayers to Jesus.
We have so much BS propaganda around us--I have seen it called the Citizen Kane of horror films. Yeah right.

yeah - i thought Rosemary's Baby and The Wicker Man were absolute Duds - but their final scenes kind of creeped me out and made me feel uneasy ......one can easily argue then the movie did it's job and left some emotion within you - especially a horror - but i'd argue these were boring dull movies and although i'm creeped out by movies about cults and love horror - they're really not worth a 2nd viewing................. overrated 70s borefests schlock...........who some deem as revolutionary like the original Dawn of the Dead.......

I mean, it's no Halloween, but...yeah). Part 2 is the creepiest IMO. As for VI - I'd say it's the best written of the bunch.

I step up my horror viewings in autumn anyway for the long dark nights, but October always signals Halloween for me. I expect I'll be terrorcentric for most of that month and once I get the taste it tends to roll over bigtime to the New Year.

Was it just a novelization of the film or had it been written prior?

do you know part VI was a book - and i got the paperback for a christmas gift from my mom I did not know that. Was it just a novelization of the film or had it been written prior? it was a full paperback. was a little kid - from understanding it was part VI in paperback book form - isn't it the one where we see the jarvis character as after V reformed and a lightning strike resurrects jason in the beginning on a graveyard rod? so it was after corey feldman in 4 jarvis - and after nutbag jarvis in 5 - the other jarvis - i think i have the timeline right..........
