I watched this entire series mulitple times when it ran in the 70's but for some reason my strongest memories were of that totally silly episode with the talking trees that look like ordinary pine trees. I don't know why the details of that one stuck in my head so much.

Catman has enjoyed the first few episodes. But what happened to Commissioner Simmonds, who was on the moon when things went boom? Simmonds story arc is concluded in "Earthbound", the fifth episode. If there was anyone Alpha could do without, it was Simmons.

Season 2 was a horrible mess. Martin Landau was extremely unhappy about it, and I don't blame him. Saw him in an interview saying of Fred Freiberger, "He ruined our show, just like he ruined Star Trek."

Loved this show!, at least it's first round. Legends like Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing guest stared. Good old nostalgia! They were free floating out in space, they had a super computer, and yet all answers came out on a strip of paper, like a reciet from a cash register. What will happen that day when they run out of paper? Just a silly little thought me and my brother used to think about.

Yes, I really love all of the tech in this show. Such nostalgic designs. I think of this show as Star Trek meets 2001 a Space Odyssey meets Doctor Who. Yes it loses it's way in season 2 but it's still a real gem deserving of cult status.

I finished re-watching the entire series for the first time in decades. I still enjoy it. It is a great piece of nostalgia and a true sci-fi cult classic. It started out with a lot of ambition and some great writing with a tiny budget. Over time (especially in the second season) it got weaker. Cast changes (I know sometimes it's unavoidable) hurt the show. Even though I like the actress (freaky eyebrow makeup and all), Maya was not a good addition to the show. She was too much of a gimmick. The writing became quite weak and predictable. Continuity was completely non-existent. Unneeded changes to sets and uniforms made no sense given the show's setting. Some episodes were obviously aired out of order (not a good idea when they give a count of days in space at the start of each ep). Some stuff was just bizarre. There was a character who was always called Sandra in season 1 and then she was called Sun in season 2 . Anyway, if you love classic sci-fi TV like Star Trek, old Doctor Who, and Lost in Space etc I think you will want to at least check out this show.
