The controversy, to the extent it is one, might cost the movie some ticket sales but it won't hurt it during awards season.

No, but apparently it'll hurt its chances of making the top 250. It has like a 5.6 right now and it's not even out. Good thing IMDb closed its message boards to stop people from down voting their new Hollywood friends' movies!

In terms of winning awards, probably not. But I personally think it was a nonsensical thing to do. It has nothing to do with politics or Trump -- it's an iconic moment in world history which you would certainly expect to see in a film about the "First Man".
