I'm fairly certain it was one of the ones made in the 30's with Weissmuller. A safari is crossing into the apes' territory, and the apes are heckling them and trying to get them to turn back. The white European A-hole in charge of the safari has one of the apes shot and the rest flee. Later one of the black African porters breaks away from the safari to drink from a stream. Tarzan sneaks up behind him, pushes his head underwater, and drowns him as vengeance for the ape that was shot.
Of course, the life of a black African porter would mean no more to the A-hole leading the safari than the life of the ape he had shot, but I got the impression that Tarzan does not know this, and he thinks he is taking proper vengeance for a family member who was murdered. We can debate the racism of this some other time. For now I would just like to know which movie it was from. Bonus kudos to anyone who can tell me if this scenario was taken from one of the Tarzan books. I've read several of ERB's but sadly never any of the Tarzan series.
