If he was from the middle east, why did he have a Mexican name?

Well, let's try this again. I guess they didn't like me quoting Father Jack! But I love the avatar!

Yeshua is Hebrew. The English form of Yeshua is Joshua. Iesus is Greek, and the English form is Jesus. It's likely that Jesus was called Yeshua, since he was Hebrew, but since the New Testament is in Greek, it says Iesus.

The OP was apparently quoting the TV programme from where he got his screen name. He was being deliberately stupid...

Ah not overly to be honest. I've known priests who love it.

There's actually very little discussion of theology in Father Ted so it rarely delves into blasphemy. It's more a lampoon of the role of the clergy in Irish society - how they're forced to live together and with a housekeeper, how the bishops can move them whenever and wherever they want, how they would like a cushy parish, how they're held up as pillars of the community etc. If you've seen the Vicar of Dibley, it's pretty similar to that though a bit more absurdist.

Family members watched it, and I saw the odd minute here and there. I don't call you a liar (even though you are) so don't be nasty, thanks in advance. Otherwise you're blocked.

If somebody said they had judged the bible based on reading "the odd line here and there", would you think that was a good idea or bad idea?
