Thanks for posting this Taylorsfirst. I am really looking forward to seeing this movie possibly the most out of all the upcoming DC movies aside from 'Batgirl' but I still think it is a big mistake to leave Barbara Gordon out of it 'cause she is the leader of the team and the group was formed by her and Dinah before any other members joined and I feel the better way to set up Birds of Prey would have been to have the 'Batgirl' movie first with an appearance from Black Canary and possibly Strix and then had the Huntress make her debut in the 'Nightwing' movie but I am hoping it turns out to be good and we get more characters than just the few that have been talked about. I want to see Lady Shiva in one of the movies 'cause she is one of the best female villains in DC and has been majorly underused on screen. With her daughter in this she might appear.

That’s gnarly Tay Tay but why February 2020? Why does it take so long for the movie to be filmed? They film tv shows with 22 episodes a season in a shorter length of time. What's the hold up?

That’s gnarly Tay Tay but why February 2020? Why does it take so long for the movie to be filmed? They film tv shows with 22 episodes a season in a shorter length of time. What's the hold up? Because TV or atleast 20+ regular network TV is lower quality than films, plus a season of a show can be filmed relatively quicker and easier but setting up the show still takes the better part of a year, The Flash for example from Grant Gustins initial casting announcement & episode prep for Arrow to when The Flash debuted on TV was over a year, Doom Patrol has been greenlit since May and wont be airing till Feb at the earliest and it is taking minimum of 5 months from the end of filming for it to be aired possibly closer to 8 months.
Generally the less special effects and sets and stuff you need the quicker a movie or show can be filmed and released but cbm's are heavy on the CGI and that takes time, otherwise you get Justice League level CGI, but also casting, set design and construction, storyboarding, character design, costuming, location selection and general scheduling can take an arseload of time to lock down.

Yeah, film, especially high budgeted ones from a major studio take a long time to make. There's more time and money into script writing, costuming, sets, actors, and special effects. Also there's more people to answer to who have to be placcated before anything can be done.

And lets not forget strategy, I mean where do you put it in 2019? Oct has Joker, Nov has Wonder Woman 84, Dec has Episode 9, not to mention the other films but those are the ones most obviously going to cannibalise the same audience as BOP, any earlier and they wont have time to get the effects and shit right and it'll be rushed.
As is BOP will be the 4th DC film in 6 months if their schedule remains as is, their pushing it all as it is right now, even the MCU doesn't try that, they do 3 films over 6 months but then give themselves 6 months before they release another one.

Do you know what the official DC Schedule is for the movies beyond 2020 Dazz? We know 'Birds of Prey' and 'Wonder Woman 2' are coming out in 2020 but aside from those two they have a heap of movies lined up like Batgirl, Supergirl, Nightwing, Green Lantern Corps, The Batman, Flash, Lobo, Man of Steel 2, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Suicide Squad 2, Cyborg, Gotham City Sirens (apparently still happening) etc that don't seem to have any concrete release dates and they should do an announcement with the official release dates for more of their movies 'cause it is very confusing. They are more organised with the release dates of their animated movies than live action movies.

Don't know if it's official but this is their current slate as far as I can gather, not including Aquaman.
April 5 2019 - Shazam! Sept 20 2019 - The Kitchen Oct 4 2019 - Joker Feb 7 2020 - Birds Of Prey June 5 2020 - WW 84
As of right now though only "officially" in the works films without a date are The Flash & The Batman, everything else is like in pre-development, just because there are rumblings about this or that don't really mean anything, studios hire people for a lot more work than what we ever see get made, and DC are terrible with this also, how many Superman films were in development between Superman 4 & MOS? how many films did we get in the 26 years inbetween? As it is all these other films likely wont get made considering some are conflicting, which is what happened with BOP & the original SS2 pitch, they were too similar and DC/WB decided to banks justo n Robbie & the girls rather than the entire Squad.
Thank god DC moved WW84 off their date, give it some breathing room, I wonder now though will DC try and force another female led movie into late 2020 and have it be the year of the female heroes sort of thing for them, or will they force Batman or The Flash in there, or some other films, or will they leave it?
Sad thing is the DCEU is 5 years into their existence and still don't know what the fuck they are, they haven't even come up with a fucking name for it, MCU by comparison 5 years in knew where they were going for the next 5 years, they knew the endgame for what they were currently doing was Thanos and likely the passing of the torch between the Phase 1 Avengers and Phase 4 and beyond Avengers, DC doesn't even know if their going to be connected or not connected, and my god can they please make some headway with The Batman Reeves has been signed on for a year and a half and still nothing, just bullshit talk, if he cant figure mit out fucking get rid of him and find someone who can or scrap the fucking project at this point.

Thanks for posting that Dazz. It’s surprising how quickly they have pushed ‘The Kitchen’ in front of all the other DC movies when it is not one of DC’s biggest selling or most well-known titles and unless it has the DC label on it most people won’t even know ‘The Kitchen’ is a DC film but Warner Bros must have faith in it being successful or they wouldn’t have thrown it in front the other DC titles and it will be interesting to see how this movie turns out ‘cause if it is a surprise hit it could lead to them taking more Vertigo titles and adapting them into movies. There was talk of a ‘Black Orchid’ movie a couple of years ago with Rachel Adams playing the leading role and perhaps ‘The Kitchen’ being successful could see that movie go through along with some other titles.
I would personally like to see the ‘Wildstorm Universe’ adapted and Jim Lee has said in interviews he plans on making a ‘Gen 13’ movie and will be writing it himself and having the ‘Wildstorm Universe’ allows Warner Bros to have a separate shared universe outside of the DC which is very different and they could have ‘Gen 13’, ‘Wildcats’, ‘DV8’, ‘Stormwatch’ and ‘Wetworks’ and work on some type of deal with the other creators to have ‘Danger Girl’ and ‘Strangers In Paradise’ which were WildStorm titles but didn’t go to DC with the other titles Jim created. What DC movies do and don’t get created remains to be seen and as you said some of them might not go through but on the other hand all of them and more could go through like the ‘Zatanna’ movie. It largely depends on the success of those movies above especially ‘Wonder Woman 2’ and various sites have said if ‘Wonder Woman 2’ is a hit female lead movies like ‘Supergirl’ and ‘Batgirl’ will go through for sure and could be fast tracked.
There were lots of Superman movies that didn’t go through between ‘Superman 4’ and ‘Returns’ and we all know what happened with ‘Superman Lives’ but I think the success of ‘Lois and Clark’ played a part in that ‘cause ‘Lois and Clark’ was one of the most successful TV shows of the decade bringing in around 20-30 million viewers a week during the first two and a half seasons and both Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher were household names here getting on the front covers of magazines and newspapers and if they had made ‘Superman Lives’ around the time of that show I think it may have been a huge flop ‘cause a lot of people would have wanted to see Dean Cain as Superman over Nicholas Cage and they should have just made a movie of ‘Lois and Clark’ with Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher in between the first two seasons and it could have been one of the biggest superhero movies of the decade.
I agree with you about the DCEU having not having any clear vision for the future and I don't think a lot of the people at Warner Bros have a long term plan and are just testing the water and seeing where it goes. I have said before how I thought it was a bad idea to go from 'Man of Steel' to 'Batman vs Superman' to 'Suicide Squad' to 'Wonder Woman' to 'Justice League' and they should have had a solo Batman movie first before putting Batman and Superman together so early and 'Suicide Squad' as the third film in was a huge mistake but I blame Zac Ryder for a lot of that 'cause from what I have heard he was the one making those decisions and wanted to have Batman and Superman together in a movie before another Batman or Superman solo movie. As for the Batman movie they should give it to Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV or Paul Dini to write as they could all write awesome Batman movies and Paul Dini has said multiple times he wants to make a Batman movie and the 'Arkham Asylum' game was said to be written as a movie first before he ended up using it for the game and if they had made the Arkham games movies instead of the DCEU DC might very well be on top now.

I think with The Kitchen it's because it has a couple of names in it but it's also not a huge CGI movie, so it can get made relatively quickly unlike most cbm's which need better part of a year to get the CGI right, also probably lower budgeted similar to The Joker, also being out and out standalone films make it easier as they don't have to try and figure out how it fits into the universe.
My guess is the fucking about with their bigger cbm properties required them to do these smaller films just so they didn't look like they were falling behind, if the had their shit together and we were getting The Flash, The Batman, MOS 2 and such in production anytime soon then most likely these 2 films wouldn't be getting much of a wiff, , which I think may also be why they bumped Wonder Woman a little, get it in 2020 that way even if they don't get their shit together on the DCEU they have atleast 1 maybe 2, as I do not doubt DC could fuck up production of BOP this early on, lets just hope by X-Mas 2019 they have their shit in order by then, but then again they have had 5 years already and look at the state they got themselves into, it's like they gave a baby on red bull a bowl of spag bol and walked away.

Oh. Zack Snyder, I meant. Not Zac Ryder the wrestler or the bobber as many people seem to call him now ‘cause the only time we see him on TV is when he is losing to people. It would be kinda funny if they were the same person and it would probably explain the quality of some of the DCEU movies to people but I think Zac Ryder would have gone with something lighter and there would be a lot more comedic moments in ‘Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and a part where Superman stops and says “woo. Woo. Woo. You know it” when he is fighting Batman. Oh and Batman would be calling all the people bros in the movie and talking about his hair when he wasn’t in his costume. lol Personally I think they got the wrong Snyder to make the movies and they should have got Scott Snyder.
I think you are right about ‘The Kitchen’ and it does sound like it would be a lot easier movie to make than an expensive superhero movie that requires special effects and it will be interesting to see how much of a DC film ‘The Kitchen’ will be promoted as when it comes out in cinemas as opposed to just being billed as a Melissa movie which I think it will be mostly seen as by the general audiences unless Warner Bros puts the DC name on everything. I mean there were a lot of people who didn’t know ‘V is For Vendetta’, ‘Watchmen’, ‘Constantine’ and ‘Jonah Hex’ were DC movies and ‘Blade’ and ‘Men in Black’ are Marvel movies when they first came out and some still don’t know but if ‘The Kitchen’ is a success it is a win for DC and one as I said before could see them adapt more of their non-superhero titles on screen.
The lineup of DC movies appears to be a mess and a lot of people don’t know when what movies are going to be out apart from the few that have been officially announced and I just heard Warner Bros are planning on making a Harley Quinn trilogy depending on the success of the ‘Birds of Prey’ movie and if ‘Birds of Prey’ is successful they are going to make ‘Gotham City Sirens’ next followed by ‘Birds of Prey vs Gotham City Sirens’ and with Harley Quinn being in ‘Birds of Prey’ I don’t know where they are going with the team line ups now and if they intend on having her leave the team at the end and go on to join the ‘Gotham City Sirens’ and add Batgirl to the ‘Birds of Prey’ team in the ‘Birds of Prey vs Gotham City Sirens’ movie or have another female villain like Lady Shiva or Nocturna as a member of ‘Gotham City Sirens’ in that movie instead and they have made things really confusing with the lineup.
That being said the future of the MCU doesn’t appear to be that clear either and Marvel have yet to officially confirmed or announce the dates a lot of the movies they have been talking about and they have rumours on multiple sites about ‘Moon Knight’, ‘Namor’, ‘Squirrel Girl’ and ‘Ms Marvel’ getting movies after the next ‘Avengers’ movie but it looks like they don’t know what they are doing with a lot of those now they are getting the Fox characters like ‘X Men’, Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer and some are saying ‘X Men’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ will be their main focus. Before he passed away the one character of his Stan Lee wanted to see get a movie the most was the Silver Surfer and the Silver Surfer has been largely wasted by Fox even more than the Fantastic Four and could be even more of a draw than the likes of Iron Man, Doctor Strange and Thor on his own.

But with Marvel it makes sense this year they reacquire a massive influx of their characters, they potentially lose Spidey back to Sony, so if they take a minute to figure out and lock down their plans for Phase 4 then that's great, they only have 2 dates for 2020 with the closest being 15 months away which maybe a bit tight but Black Widow could fill that spot they started filming and released Black Panther within 13 months, so a CG light espionage action film with Widow could be doable, and with Marvel you never know who they already have under contract for multiple movies we may not realise which can cut down on the time spent casting.

Yeah, Marvel makes SHIELD look like a punk. They are very good at keeping things under wraps and surprising you with reveals that look spontaneous but we're part of a long haul hustle.

Are they going to lose Spider-Man back to Sony? I have heard some people say that but I have never read on any sites Sony is no longer going to let the MCU use the character and if 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' is a success they will most likely want to continue working with Marvel 'cause they will make money on it too and I have heard we could end up seeing Spider-Man and Venom on screen together which would connect the MCU to Sony's Spiderverse unless they make it that Venom is in an alternate universe like SpiderGwen and the universes crossover which I think might be for the best for the MCU 'cause having multiple universes would allow them to have characters like Blade and Elsa Bloodstone without having to explain why the other superheroes are not fighting vampires and monsters too and it might even be best for X Men keeping them in a separate universe. I wasn't the biggest fan of 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' as you know and wasn't particularly fond of what they did with Shocker who the writers butchered the same way the 'Arrowverse' has butchered some villains making them nothing like they were in the comic books and very weakened down but we are going to see 'Far From Home' and look forward to finally seeing Mysterio in a movie.
I think with the new characters they acquire Marvel need to focus on the Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer most of all 'cause the last 'Fantastic Four' was really bad and the 'Fantastic Four' is one of their biggest selling comic book series in all time sales.

After FFH Disney & Sony will need to negotiate a new deal for Spidey if Marvel were to keep using him in films, but with Sony now in a stronger position than they were 4 years ago thanks to Homecoming, Venom & Spiderverse all doing good to great they may want too much out of Marvel, most likely wanting to cross into the MCU which I don't see Marvel letting Sony anywhere near, Spidey can pop up in Venom once the deal is done as Holland has 1 more movie on his contract to play Spidey and so Sony can get him into Venom 2, but it wont connect it to the MCU it'll just confuse people, Marvel will not let Sony fuck with their universe at all is my guess, and they don't need to Spidey in the MCU is great but they only have 3 film slots a year at most and now that they have X-Men, F4 & Silver Surfer back they don't need Spidey as much, hell they don't need him at all really.
I agree focus on F4 when they get the rights back, but that's also an issue as Fox apparently down own the rights to F4 they only own the distribution rights, another company owns the actual rights, but Fox just pays them to let them make the films, so no idea what the fuck will happen with that going forward, Disney will likely get the rights back, but when is the question, but I agree F4 needs to Marvel treatment as the other films were bad to horrible, the 00's version was atleast enjoyably bad though, Rise Of The Silver Surfer is my sisters favourite cbm which cracks me up.
Also the sooner we get F4 the sooner we get DOOM!!!! and I want DOOM in the MCU, DOOM!!!!!

Thanks for explaining that to me. Although would you really say Sony is in a much stronger position yet than they were before 'cause they have only had success with one movie ('Venom') and some fans think they are making a mistake making 'Morbius, the Living Vampire' the next movie 'cause there are other superheroes in the 'Spiderverse' that are bigger draws and I agree and I think they should be trying to capitolise on 'SpiderGwen/Ghost Spider's' popularity and make 'SpiderGwen' their next live action movie. I was never fond of the choice of having Black Cat and Silver Sable before SpiderGwen and Spider Woman as you know and I think movies of 'SpiderGwen' and 'Spider Woman' would draw more of an audience than movies of 'Black Cat' 'Silver Sable' and my Brother In Law does too 'cause they have bigger fanbases. Right now 'SpiderGwen' is Marvel's biggest selling female character and it is a waste not making a movie of her over lesser known characters but they are using her in animation first.
I don't think 'Venom' will connect to the MCU either and if it does it would be confusing since there was no mention of any of the other MCU superheroes existing in the movie but having it in an alternate universe like 'SpiderGwen' would make the most sense and they could have Venom crossover with Spider-Man that way. I can't remember but have they mentioned multiple universes existing inside of the MCU with alternate versions of the characters? There have been rumours Spider Woman is going to be in 'Far From Home' so we will have to wait and see what happens with her and I am still surprised Sony own her rights since Archie Goodwin created her separately and the name Jessica Drew come from his daughter. It will be interesting to see what they do with 'The Fantastic Four' and 'The Silver Surfer' and there was said to be a 'Doctor Doom' movie in development but I am not sure it is happening now and I think they should wait until they have a good version of the character in a 'Fantastic Four' movie before giving him his own movie.
