Because we haven't seen Superman murdered onscreen enough. What did you all think of this film? Thought it was okay myself. Not a big fan of the DCAU Superman, but his death still had more resonance than it did in BvS.

The film was much better than BVS because the character was well established in the DC animated universe unlike the DCEU. The storyline in the DCEU was wasted IMO.
Personally I liked it a lot and it was better handled than the previous attempt in Superman: Doomsday.

It was one of the better DC animated movies to come out these past few years.

Haven’t seen it yet, but that’s mostly because I can’t say I’m particularly interested in seeing this story told yet again.

I'll watch it if Superman is murdered and stays murdered. Otherwise, what's the point of doing this over and over when everyone knows he ain't staying dead? It's not generating a lot of suspense at this point.

This one had more resonance because it was the main focus of this storyline. One of the things that made BvS not as great as it could have been was cramming too many separate stories into one (Batman origin, The Dark Knight Returns, government reaction to Superman, Doomsday, Luthor, Apocalypse, Wonder Woman and Justice League cameos). Too much stuff.
I wouldn't have done Doomsday in the movies so soon. I would have left it for a Man of Steel sequel so they could dedicate the story to one Superman centric movie.

It's not generating a lot of suspense at this point. This is a more direct (the MOST direct?) adaptation of the comic storyline. So yes, we know he comes back, but that's the story as faithful to the comic.
Its like saying you wont see a Rocky movie because you know he's going to win in the end, or a Titanic movie because you know its going to sink...
DOH! did I mess that up for you?! sorry...
lol

Rocky doesn't win in the end of the original film, and the subsequent Rockys bore me. I don't need to see umpteen versions of a film about the Titanic, either. Same goes for Superman getting dead. I could care less how it happens if there's absolutely no suspense involved over the ending.

Kinda crazy how dc shines in animated movies and games
I loved Death of superman. I love how they got Jerry o Connell and Rebecca Romjin to play Supes and Lois, both did great. O connell is up there with Daly and Newburn. Rainn Wilson was ok as Lex but I miss Clancy Brown.
Batman Ninja is a great movie too especially if you wondered what Batman would be like in an anime universe.

Eh, I think you could pretty much shove Doomsday into any movie. He's really just a big monster to punch. Where BvS f*cked up was not working him in organically. Should have taken a page from the JL animated series and had the government create him to counter Supes, tying into the already existing "government reaction to Superman" stuff.

I'd say it's the best version as well, yes.

The film was much better than BVS because the character was well established in the DC animated universe unlike the DCEU. The storyline in the DCEU was wasted IMO. Personally I liked it a lot and it was better handled than the previous attempt in Superman: Doomsday. There's a DC animated universe?! I didn't know that, I thought all their animated movies were separate. I'm actually glad to hear that, as I always thought they should do it.

But I know that the Justice League that appears in the Death of Superman is the supposed to be the same one that appears in Justice League: War.

I think it's the best adaption of that storyline so far. Better than BvS and Superman: Doomsday.

Well... to be perfectly clear, most of the animated movies take place within an interconnected "universe", but not every single one. You'll know the difference. They're easy to spot. But yes, there's an "animated universe" and its pretty cool.

You’d think they’d put half that effort into the movies because that’s where the money is.
