I like this song a lot.
What are religious songs you like?
Strange, but at work yesterday I was thinking about that song. As I recall it was written about freed slaves for whom an island was set aside where they could have their own land. The Highwaymen had a hit with it and I remember hearing it on the radio during my childhood. Great song.

the four hundred block of south garey avenue
the streets are tattooed on the four hundred block. linked by their twisted dot to dot holograms.
where i may one day stand peering over a canvas of spattered lives.
i prefer life studies like we all do. bold emblazoned hues victories after dues paid.
even the best laid can be over ridden plans made by the yet to be forgiven.
as we all wind up as dancers in long imagined heavens too late to realize others footsteps are there to guide us from the shadows between the street lights.

Not a massive religious music fan. But there are always exceptions.

i'm working on a series of songs revolving around the differing levels at which christians heads implode after being triggered.

to trigger or not not trigger
if the wholesale triggering of the christian right here in the united states can bring about such the divide that even the most inclusive among them will have to decide whether or not they can pull off a hitlerian genocide then i say grab your squirt guns and hop on board for the ride!
sjw 09/28/18 inspired at this very moment in time the power of triggering the insipid.

a time in history when excessively drunk white males lost control
i'm befuddled as to finding a period in world history where excessively drunk white males lost control of the port holes and the pails they excused themselves to between screwing both me and you.

"Rocky Racoon checked into his room, only to find Gideon's Bible.
Gideon checked out, and left it no doubt, to aid in poor Rocky's revival."

christ the lord is risen in pay
christ the lord is risen in pay, hallelujah. the check just cleared the other day, hallelujah. we can buy that whole town there, hallelujah. erect a cross in the market square, hallelujah.
who would have guessed we'd strike it rich, hallelujah. by playing off some virgin snitch, hallelujah. who couldn't keep her two legs crossed, hallelujah. she got knocked up and blamed the boss, hallelujah.
so it seems our world won't end, hallelujah. with jesus as our accountant friend, hallelujah. we can charge them up the butt, hallelujah. as long as god keeps his mouth shut, hallelujah.
sjw 4/06/10 inspired at this very moment in time by the only god that everyone worships without thinking twice.

That's pretty much how I feel about Creed and Jars of Clay almost everything after ludwig, peter and wolfgang is pretty much vacuous posturing in front of cameras while going through the motions.

translating the time square timetables into time honored tantrums
try holding up a copy of the koran while traversing a turnstile entering a subway and mentioning that you know the direction everyone in earshot is headed and see how fast you get throttled by a variety of assorted holy literature as you realize you never knew which way you were going but it was thrilling to watch other sycophants regurgitating the recycled mantras of sheep herders you claim saw a girl menstruate before ever being groped by an in-law.
