IMO this is the best time to go camping in states like Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. Yes its great going in the summer time but it gets so hot sometimes. Right now is great. Get up in the morning wearing long pants and a sweat shirt. As the day progresses you slowly start to shed some of the cloths. But this time of year when camping is great for hiking, fishing and biking. Some campsites know this and stay open till the end of October. And when it starts getting chilly in the evening just cozy up to your camp fire.

In the next few months, it's going to be good to go camping in desert our here in California. The rocks are good for bouldering and the mountains make for challenging and good hikes. The Mojave National Preserve, Joshua Tree National park, Death Valley National Park, Anza Borrego State Park, and the Chocolate Mountains are great campsites. I'm planning on hitting at least one of those places this fall/winter.

I've got my sights set on the Mojave National Preserve in the first week of March. Going to do some hiking and prospecting. Lots of strange, interesting minerals out there. How about you? Is the weather permitting camping out there?

Not really. Cold and snow. Although I have done some winter camping before. We take a ton of firewood and keep the campfire going day and night. It is more fun camping in the summer because I have a small boat and love to fish. But we enjoy hiking in the snow when winter camping.

I spent a couple days in the Mojave desert last week looking for minerals. Gorgeous weekend. Some clouds and temperate weather. In a couple of months it'll be 110+ degrees, so now is the time to go. Has the snow abated for you?
