This is fun. I don’t believe it, but it’s fun. The full thread from Reddit is here, but basically the writer believes the following: In other words, that Dino-Man himself was originally intended as the main villain of the series! I find the most convincing part of the theory the Jar Jar-Yoda parallels, but even that falls apart as we meet Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back (the second movie of the original three), while we meet Dino-Man in The Phantom Menace (the first of the prequels). Similarly, the mirroring of Luke’s decision not to kill Vader in Return of the Jedi with Anakin’s decision to kill Dooku in Revenge of the Sith could have happened, as according to this theory Dooku was a hastily-written-in villain to replace Jar Jar. To me, at least, that parallel seems very much intentional from the get-go. (Yes, I know everyone here had probably already known about this “theory” except for me—I remember when it made the news a few years back, in fact. I didn’t know who Jar Jar was, though, so… Wow, look at all these Star Wars references I get now! Sorry, thinking about this because I mentioned to a cousin of mine that I’d seen SW for the first time recently, and he mentioned this theory and directed me to that Robot Chicken clip above.)

Lol it would explain much.
Lucas did say in 1999 when people critiqued JarJar that they would be seeing a lot of him and then he was sidelined.

I’m guessing the discussions/arguments about this have already been hashed out? I somewhat feel like Chesterton’s yachtsman, having discovered all this stuff long after the rest of the human race!

Did Lucas ever respond to the DarhJarJar theory? I remember he was asked about it and just chuckled. Can't find it.

It’d be a hoot if this were true—though, admittedly, I didn’t mind Jar Jar all that much. I didn’t like him, but he certainly didn’t ruin the movie for me (and it really was only one movie! He’s got a couple of scenes in AotC and then maybe a cameo in RotS. It’s amazing that people were this bothered by him).

He was the kind of clumsy loser who children love and pubescent boys love to bully. It's hard to understand today, but it was as if Lucas gave the older fans the finger after they had bitched endlessly about those childish Ewoks. Jar Jar was as if Buster Keaton and Goofy had a love child raised by Ewoks in Star Wars hell. Darth Jar Jar is just the wish projection of those who have not fully accepted the truth. I still would not hug a Gungan, but I can enjoy them on some level. I still cannot abide those Ewoks, disgusting creatures. Lucas had to be punished.

Scarier than Darth Vader or Darth Jar Jar: DARTH TOMMY! only thing about the Room I liked was the intro music as we hear in the beginning here, it went downhill from there, but amusingly so.

I’ve always loved the idea of Darth Jar Jar, and watching the Prequels through the Sith lens makes it that much better. I still subscribe to this theory. To this day, I think he’s out there, somewhere, pulling the strings of the galaxy. True Believer to the end. 🤪
