Anyone else looking forward to the new adaptation of Stephen King's IT, coming out later this year?

I am and hopefully it won't be a flop like so many remakes/reboots are.

I don't have high hopes since it's from the guy who did 'Mama'. Pennywise is looking not too bad though.

I didn't know they were making a new one. This should be interesting.

Looking forward to it? No. But I admit I'm quite curious. It could be decent if they were indeed more faithful to the source material.

I'm excited for it, but I'm a bit disappointed that Will Poulter dropped out as he looked so much like a young Tim Curry and he apparently aced his audition and creeped out the casting people. He dropped out along with the original attached director.
So far I'm not thrilled about Pennywise's design, but I'm still hopeful.

I'm excited for it, and I actually think the new Pennywise looks pretty cool. I don't really see it being better than the original movie, but hopefully it's not a complete bust.

I don't think anyone can improve on Tim Curry's Pennywise. That was an inspired creation. I do think they might do better with the adult side of things...and certainly the ending will be improved.

For me IT has potential to be the scariest movie of the year. Clowns creep me already because you can't get a read on them with all their make-up on.

The "scariest movie of the year?" Well, it depends on your definition of scary.
Is scary some CGI creature who pounces just as the soundtrack booms, making you jump? That's a false scare to me, like looking out a window and suddenly a dog jumps up at you from below or a cat jumps into the shot, screeching (this was one in Pet Sematary, by the way). Cheap scare tactics.
Is scary some person wearing make-up who's a demon, a la Insidious? I didn't know Darth Maul was a demon! Again, the soundtrack lets you know you're supposed to be scared by revving itself up into overdrive.
The beauty of Pennywise is that, in his normal clown demeanor, he looked like a funny clown. He didn't look menacing. The clown persona was a way to put people off their guard, especially children. To have him look menacing from the get-go wouldn't work, and the publicity shots I've seen from this film make me think that's exactly what they're doing.
I'm anxious to see if they place the flashbacks in the 1950s, or do they take place in the 90s? The 90s just wouldn't work for me, since the 50s has become an iconic era.
"It" better be a formidable villain, if they're actually going to split this into two parts.
Frankly, I've a feeling this won't do well, not unless the first part is kickass. If it isn't, I don't think part II will impress at the box-office.

Big Stephen King fan here, so I'm quite interested in seeing it.
Then again, I've yet to read the novel or see the 1990 adaptation! Should probably do both of those things first.

Kind f ambivalent. From the looks of this version's Pennywise, not too hopeful. The chilling aspect of the original was having him look like a regular, normal clown, turning nasty only when perpetrating an evil act. Every kid's nightmare. And let's face it, most would say clowns are creepy under the best of circumstances. I'll probably go see it.

I wonder if they'll play calliope music whenever Pennywise is on the screen, like they did in the mini-series! Congrats on becoming a "senior member," by the way!

Yeah, the calliope music added a partilarly eerie creep factor. Ha! I didn't even notice! Now we are on equal, footing!

We are! But we're not God! I remember "Silent Siren" was the first person I saw reach 500, and she became "god" and crowed about it. Then she disappeared, and so did the "God" designation. Guess we'll just have to settle for "senior members" (sounds like a "senior moment!").

Not too thrilled about this. They missed the point of pennywise and I'm not really a big fan of remakes.

Trailer looks good & there is huge room for improvement over the original film.
