Did a marathon over a friend's house. Got together with with my buddies from Highschool, some which I haven't seen since graduation, and binge watched a lot of films. Started with Slenderman, which is easily the worse film I've seen this year. Such a waste of something that had a of potential. We ended it with the classic Halloween (1978) Great time! I randomly do that with college buddies. We had a tradition of everyone chipping in and renting 5 vhs at the local rental place they had a deal 5 movies for 3 nights. We'd burn through the 5 in a night. We now have cut it back to 3. I still say Halloween 78 is the best of the slasher films. It's genuinely scary, thrilling, paced well, pretty pro women compared to what came after it in genre, and the soundtrack is superb.

Which is odd because Horror in general has mostly had strong female protagonist. Laurie Strode definitely one of favorites and I loved her even more in the new Halloween.

The original had the trope if a woman shows any interest in sex or has sex she's going to die. It did have a very strong female lead in any case.
