painting artist... hans holbien -- particularly the time he spent painting henry viii and his wives.
music artist... Bjork
actress... Marisa tomei -- I wanna see where I grew up on tv! yeah, her family had a summer home near/in my town.
actor... henry fonda... again, I wanna see my town on tv! he was shot and nearly died at the large mansion near my house. yeah. spooky.
cartoonist... Bill Amend. My alltime favorite comic strip is FoxTrot. he sadly 'retired' after 20 years[still does sundays but no longer dailies] and although the characters stayed the same ages like the simpsons, the story arcs/lines stayed with the times .. he wrote about that big power outage the eastern seaboard suffered [2003] and when Peter and Jason went to see Batman and Jason was interviewed on tv wearing a costume and gave a shout out to Paige... who then received phone call after phone call after phone call about it.

Paul Gauguin - very interesting life. A stockbroker and family man, gets the bug for painting and goes off to remote corners of the world searching for "authenticity". It would probably have to be a mini-series though!
Berthe Morisot's life would probably make a good biopic too - the only woman among the French impressionists.

Vincent Price wanted to make a movie about Leonardo da Vinci.
Wasn't Sirens about Pre-Raphaelites or inspired by it?
And Effie Grey might be (too lazy to check).
