JURASSIC PARK (1993) 5/5.
An action-packed and exciting American science fiction film that was produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Gerald R Molen and directed by Steven Spielberg. The first instalment of the JURASSIC PARK film franchise, this film is based on the 1990 novel of the same name by Michael Crichton, with the screenplay written by him and David Koepp. The inspirational and memorable film soundtrack is provided by John Williams. The film stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Samuel L Jackson, BD Wong, Jeff Goldblum, Bob Peck, Wayne Knight, Joseph Mazzello, Ariana Richards and Richard Attenborough.
The film is set on the fictional island, located off Central America's Pacific Coast near Costa Rica, where billionaire philanthropist John Hammond and a small team of genetic scientists have created a wildlife park of de-extinct dinosaurs. When industrial sabotage leads to a catastrophic failure of the wildlife park's power facilities and security precautions, a small group of visitors, along with Hammond's grandchildren, struggle to survive and escape the perilous island.
At the time of its release, JURASSIC PARK was a ground-breaking film in the areas of computer-generated imagery, special effects and sound effects. It won more than twenty awards, including three Academy Awards for its technical achievements in visual effects and sound design. It also became the highest grossing film in history, until it was later replaced by TITANIC, in 1997. Even after all this time, this film holds up remarkably well and is still an extremely entertaining film.

A modern classic. It's the only recent film (like 1990 onward) that I can think of that can still evoke a genuine sense of wonder and awe. Even on repeat.

7/10 - I remember seeing this in the theatre when I was 5 or 6. It freaked me out. To this day the effects are very impressive. The best of the series.

I remember taking a couple of 5 or 6 year-olds with me to see it at a nearby drive-in.
It's a good film, but not my favourite in the film series.
