Dead Air Dept. - Marketed as "Rick Grimes' Last Episode," the much-hyped end of THE WALKING DEAD's lead hero turned out to be another dumpster dive and just the beginning of a renewed effort by AMC to milk every last penny out of the desiccated corpse of TWD: cinemarchaeologist.blogspot.com/2018/11/walking-dead-112.html

The bridge was an existing structure-- was it ever explained how a big chunk had crumbled away? What use was there for dynamite to be there in the first place?
Was Sasha ever that important to Rick? I guess that actress left on good terms with AMC or maybe she was available to shoot a scene. Shouldn't Carl have been one of his visions? Glenn? His wife, whatshername?
And the BS staging of the horse flipping out and then we see in the overhead shot that not only is the horse just standing there, but that the roadway continues unencumbered by zombies.
The writing logic on this show is like some 80s action tv show/b-movie yet on Talking Dead they act like they're working on some Shakespearean tragedy.

After almost the whole episode showing Rick meeting people he knew from his past, to keep him alive was the biggest cop-out they've ever made - and they've made quite a few.

The bridge was an existing structure-- was it ever explained how a big chunk had crumbled away? What use was there for dynamite to be there in the first place? The explanation for the bridge was that a zombie herd had torn it up, which is hilarious. In my review at the time, I asked if maybe this was a set-up for a corssover with Kirkman's Marvel Zombies--like the Hulk Zombie landed and tore up the bridge--and I stuck some screencaps of it. The middle of the bridge was smashed, the steel support beams a twisted wreck, rebar-reinforced concrete several feet thick had been bashed through and huge chunks of same were ripped away and piled on the surface of the bridge (that stuff on which Rick was impaled was some of the debris they'd removed). While they're standing there looking at it, Rosita says it was zombies. There no excuse for that dynamite to be there--they'd just gone through all that toil and drama to build that bridge and blowing it up was on no one's agenda. They were using the Saviors as most of the workforce to build it and the Saviors aren't allowed to have anything more than melee weapons, a plot-point that was raised repeatedly this season. They wouldn't bring a massive cache of dynamite anywhere near the Saviors. The cheat with the intersection was more like something you'd see in one of the lesser movie serials from the '40s; the hero is trapped in a wooden box and chucked in an incinerator at the end, then the next chapter begins with an insert shot showing him getting out of the box before it was burned. It was a cheat done in the staging and editing. Watching the cliffhanger, we're clearly meant to think Rick has just been hemmed in by the zombies. I watched this ep with my mother; when Rick gets back up, mounts the horse and goes down that zombie-free road, she said, "Now, WHERE did THAT come from?"

Show us something making it look impossible to get out of, then show us the full picture letting is know there was always an out. It was exactly like Glenn's dumpster dive.

Jriddle73, You have been brutally honest in your reviews and critiques of TWD for the last few years. I told myself i would only watch "Rick's Final Episode" this season. In retrospect, that was giving them too much credit. They did not deserve this commitment from me. It was still yet another jerk and tease episode. This show is just dead to me......the end.
