SHERLOCK HOLMES IN WASHINGTON (1943) 3/5.
SHERLOCK HOLMES IN WASHINGTON is the fifth film in the SHERLOCK HOLMES film series featuring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. The screenplay is by Bertram Millhauser and Lynn Riggs and is an original story, not based on any of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novels or short stories. The music is by Frank Skinner and the film is produced and directed by Roy William Neill.
It stars Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes, Nigel Bruce as Doctor John Watson, George Zucco as Heinrich Hinkel, Henry Daniell as William Easter and Marjorie Lord as Nancy Partridge. The film also features John Archer, Gavin Muir, Edmund MacDonald, Don Terry, Bradley Page, Holmes Herbert, Thurston Hall and Gerald Hamer.
When a British secret agent, Alfred Pettibone, is murdered on his way to deliver a vital secret document to the USA government, the British government turns to Sherlock Holmes and Doctor John Watson for help. While it’s one of the lesser entries in the film franchise, it’s still entertaining fun.

Here’s what I wrote a few months ago: It certainly has its moments - as do all the films Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as Sherlock Holmes and Doctor John Watson.
And it's hard to overlook the contributions of George Zucco and Henry Daniell.
