I don't know how I forgot The Predator and Hellraiser Judgment. Was The Predator that bad? I didn't expect great things, but with that writer/director and that cast it's crazy that it could have been among the year's worst. Hellraiser Judgment was terrible of course, but I gave it a lot of leeway because I was judging it against the previous Hellraiser movie and it was a marked improvement. Yes it was. The new Pinhead was slightly better, but I actually consider Judgment the worst of the franchise otherwise. And that's saying a lot.

The year is not over and I haven't seen a great deal of New horror flicks from 2018, but these ones did not impress: Delirium, which sounded like it was gonna be good, but wasn't. I saw it months ago and can't even remember anything about it, which is never a good sign of quality. The Ninth Passenger, another movie with a great premise...that wound up sucking. The list of horror from 2018 that I actually enjoyed would be a lot longer, thankfully: Hereditary Annihilation The Cloverfield Paradox *Yes, I enjoyed it so Calibre The Open House Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom The Men Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell Summer of 84 A Quiet Place American Fright Fest He's Out There Hell Fest Halloween Unsane Venom Goosebumps 2: Haunted HalloweenI even didn't mind Day of the Dead: Bloodline.

That's a big 10-4. I give credit to Revelations for one thing, and that's the fact that it actually felt like someone was trying to make a Hellraiser movie. The proceeding 4 sequels were just random scripts with Pinhead scribbled in, and I don't know what the deal was with Judgment, but someone obviously decided to remake Se7en with cenobites. The movie also looks like it was shot on a cell phone with 6 actors and written/directed by a misogynist. I was bored out of my skull and wanted to turn it off. I really, really hated it.

That's a hard one to understand. I'd pretty much everything you said around. It didn't feel like it was actually trying to be a Hellraiser movie at all. Just a shitty movie about some shitty kids with some shitty found footage moments included for no reason at all. Yes, Judgment did indeed seem like just a different script, total Seven rip off, but that at least seemed like one of the later sequels. Revelations just wasn't anything at all. Stupid teens go on a stupid teen vacation or something. At least Judgment uses it's later scenes to try to expand on the ideas of heaven and hell and the cenobites. It's not a legitimately good movie in any way, but at least they tried. In revelations they didn't even try. And in terms of production value, it's not even close. Both are cheap and bad looking movies, but they had essentially the same budget and Judgment looks better in every possible way. And the new Pinhead was a thousand times better than the last one. I'm not gonna argue the Judgment was a overall good and well made movie, but it's exponentially better than Revelations... And it's still bad! That just speaks to how bad Revelations was.

My lowest rated horror title from 2018 is a movie called Exposure.
It kinda feels like cheating, since it can barely be considered a real movie, but somehow I saw it on Showtime. It ended up on a real paid movie channel, but it's clearly an amateur work by people who don't know how to make a film at all.
But it's bad in every respect. The performances are awful, the script is as derivative as it is clueless, the makeup effects are clearly the most professional element and they still suck, the cinematography is completely unprofessional, and the director obviously doesn't have any understanding of basic filmic language.
It was my fault for sticking it out until the end.

It's essentially the same plot of the first film but with teens. It's also found footage, so it has an excuse to be cheap looking. The only thing I really agree on is Pinhead.

I’ve only seen a few horror or related films of 2018. And they mainly ranged from good to poor. Nothing that great. Mandy, Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, Halloween, The Meg, Slender Man, Summer of 84, Living Space, Gonjiam Haunted Asylum... but my worst goes to The Predator.
A sloppy, overdone and uninteresting mess. Overkill on awful CGI, hamfisted plot threads & obnoxious humour. I think I chuckled once. Felt, and looked like I was watching something from the 90s lo-fi straight to video circuit trying its hardest to imitate a Predator film.
