YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE (1967) 4/5.
A British spy film and the fifth in the JAMES BOND film series produced by Eon Productions. The screenplay was written by Roald Dahl, which was based upon a story by Harold Jack Bloom, which was in turn based upon YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, the eleventh novel, but the twelfth JAMES BOND book by Ian Fleming. The soundtrack was by John Barry, the film was produced by Albert R Broccoli and Harry Saltzman and it was directed by Lewis Gilbert.
YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE stars Sean Connery as James Bond, Tetsurō Tamba as Tiger Tanaka, Akiko Wakabayashi as Aki, Mie Hama as Kissy Suzuki, Charles Gray as Dikko Henderson, Karin Dor as Helga Brandt, Teru Shimada as Mriste Osato, Bernard Lee as M, Desmond Llewelyn as Q, Lois Maxwell as Miss Moneypenny and Donald Pleasence as Ernst Stavro Blofeld. The film also features Anthony Ainley, Tsai Chin, Burt Kwouk, Norman Jones, Shane Rimmer, Paul Carson, Jeanne Roland, Richard Graydon and Bill Mitchell.
James Bond is dispatched to Japan after American and Soviet manned spacecraft disappear mysteriously in orbit. With each nation blaming the other amidst the Cold War, 007 travels secretly to a remote Japanese island to find the perpetrators and comes face to face with Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the head of SPECTRE - SPecial Executive for Counterintelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion. Disappointingly, this is the first film to discard almost all of Ian Fleming's plot, using only a few characters and locations from the novel as the background for an entirely new story. A great shame in an otherwise reasonably entertaining film.

A lethal environment full of deadly animals, plants and volcanic vents, where Japanese people could come and commit suicide.
Doctor Guntram Shatterhand's Garden of Death.

9/10 Not one of my favorites but still its great fun. The end battle is spectacular. I think it's a fun film, but also very disappointing because of how far it strayed from the original source material.
