THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN (1974) 3/5.
A British spy film and the ninth entry in the JAMES BOND film series produced by Eon Productions. The screenplay is by Richard Maibaum and Tom Mankiewicz and is loosely based upon THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, the twelfth novel, but the thirteenth book in Ian Fleming’s JAMES BOND book series. The film soundtrack is by John Barry, it’s produced by Albert R Broccoli and Harry Saltzman and it’s directed by Guy Hamilton.
THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN stars Roger Moore as James Bond, Britt Ekland as Mary Goodnight, Maud Adams as Andrea Anders, Hervé Villechaize as Nick Nack, Clifton James as Sheriff JW Pepper, Bernard Lee as M, Desmond Llewelyn as Q, Lois Maxwell as Miss Moneypenny and Christopher Lee as Francisco Scaramanga. It also features Richard Loo, Soon-Tek Oh, Marc Lawrence as Rodney, Marne Maitland, James Cossins, Francoise Therry and Carmen du Sautoy as Saida, a Beirut belly dancer.
James Bond is sent after the Solex Agitator, a device that can harness the power of the sun, while facing the assassin Francisco Scaramanga. The action culminates in a duel between them that settles the fate of the Solex. The film has an extremely tenuous link with the original novel and, in my personal opinion, features the return of the single worse and most unfortunate aspect of the previous film - Clifton James as Sheriff JW Pepper. If you’re looking for a bit of harmless fun, you’ll probably be satisfied. If you’re looking for a decent JAMES BOND film, you probably won’t be.

Ugh, one of my least favorite installments. Christopher Lee is one of the coolest Bond villains. Too bad it's in this one though. Britt Ekland was terrible.

However, she's still easier to look at than Clifton James as Sheriff JW Pepper!
