I really enjoyed "The Widower", and "Top of the Lake" miniseries. Plus "Silk". "Whitechaple" was good but got a bit goofy the last several episodes for me. That's about all of the latest British shows I've watched.
"See no evil: The Moors murders", "Appropriate adult", and "Longford" still stand out to me as being great telefilms.

Top of the Lake is New Zealand no offense.

I'm from Ireland and British TV stations are widely available here, so I grew up watching British TV to a fair degree.
Some UK shows that I've watched and loved over the years:
The Thin Blue Line Mr. Bean Keeping Up Appearances The Bill Blackadder Doctor Who Only Fools and Horses Noel's House Party The Generation Game Coronation Street Goodnight Sweetheart Peep Show The Vicar of Dibley
And I'm sure there are others that I can't think of just now.

I don't watch much contemporary tv, but I watch Midsomer Murders,Vera, Death in Paradise, and Doc Martin. Most of my favourite Tv programmes are old.ones. I watch most frequently: Dr Who (classic who only) Minder, The Professionals, Dad's Army, Porridge, Yes Minister/Prime Minister, Monty Python's Flying Circus,Are You Being Served? Bergerac, The Piglet Files, The Detectives, Inspector Morse, Lewis.

I like too many-old ones & newer ones. We usually catch them as PBS gains the rights. Like, they are just now going to start running Happy Valley, & we've heard good reviews of that. The only bad part is when they air 1 or 2 seasons(sometimes over & over), then don't air the rest-Silk & Midsomer Murders.
