omg this was bad. like really Really bad.
I wasn't go to bother, but now I definitely won't bother.
The costuming looks off and odd. What is with that?
You should read my short review on the bottom of page 2 but to give you an answer, the idea is that they "reinterpreted" the story instead of making a "remake" so that's why you end up with those costumes.

yeah the costuming looked like something left over from 5th element, Matrix and Hunger games if mashed up. I didnt think it was possible for me NOT to enjoy a Robin Hood story, especially one where there is a few actors I like, but this movie set new goals in bad. It had practically no story, the characters were a JOKE, action scenes boring/confusing, no humor, and ever present pathos. Mind you, I dont even care about historical accuracy here, but that would be another chapter. 2/10 from me. Interestingly enough it was obvious the movie was going to be bad already in the first 5 or so minutes. Like it was THAT bad and then just NEVER got any better.

I know I know. The reviews were a huge red flag. But I do go see everything that comes out, you know. So I would have suffered regardless of multiple warnings. Plus because I am a big Robin Hood fan ( Michael Praed forever!) I kept hoping it was going to be at least silly-entertaining. No such luck. I thought Ritchies Arthur was bad. This is a new galaxy of bad. now here is a good Robin Hood

I guess we can say I took one for the team... and the movie is exactly what we see in the trailer. The whole thing starts with an introduction lasting a few minutes, in which we hear a narrator describe the details of the "classic" story and telling us that classic version is a bed time story but this one is no bed time story. So right there, I think the word reinterpretation would fit better than remake but that is still one bizarre version. I'll skip over everything that felt wrong to say that the main issue is that the buildup is either botched or non-existent. We simply go from one phase to another with little to no excitement and not much pressure. I know this isn't High Noon 2018 but there is simply no tension or enjoyment in following the story. It may not be the worst movie of the year but it sure is the worst reinterpretation of 2018. 3.5/10 So it sounds like they deceived right from the start and failed to deliver. If I hear a statement... "this is no bedtime story", I would anticipate something raw and brutal and original. How were they going to deliver this with a PG-13 rating to begin with? Why not make it a full on full blooded and perhaps even raunchy Robin Hood? It sounds like the negative box office and critical consequence was deserving and what they really asked for. You summarized it better than I could . It's exactly that.
There is no surprise, the movie is exactly like the trailer and by that I mean every aspect of it. So if you're one of the very few people who liked what you saw (talking generally here) then you will like it, otherwise it is every bit as bad as it seems to be from that trailer.
