Not many mini-series this decade. It's becoming extinct. True, Its getting to a point where nothing will ever be canceled anymore, it'll just basically end and have a complete story told as well.

The way full seasons are being rolled out as short as 6-10 episodes, then I guess this is why mini-series are becoming irrelevant.

The longest mini-series I have watched but only a quarter of the way was a Korean drama called 'The Great Queen Seondeok' back in 2009, that so "called" min-series ran for 62 episodes. hahahaha

I'm not sure if it's considered a mini-series or not, but for me the best of the past two years is The Terror.

I don't know how that can be unless definitions have changed. An anthology is a collection of stories. The Terror is one story. It had a predetermined number of episodes, so I think it qualifies as a miniseries.

Because a mini-series is a concept with a limited span of time, its like a tv-movie of sorts. An anthology on the other hand continues the concept for multiple seasons, with perhaps changing stories and actors, a limited series is practically a tv show with a loose definition. Band of Brothers was always meant to be close ended, but True detective is continuous and revolving.

Season 2 will be about a completely different story, so I now understand how it's an anthology. Thanks for your explanation.
