Disney is obviously going to keep making live action adaptations of their older animated films because of the success of Cinderella, The Jungle Book and now Beauty and the Beast. However, I wonder if because of the success of B&B they will try and do a sequel to it? It seems too popular for them to do just as a one off.

Yes it is popular and they have seemingly endless titles to go through. If they do a BatB2 and it is a failure, it does hurt their "live action" brand. It may be better that they resist the temptation.

I hope not. It's bad enough Disney is rebooting their animated classics. They don't need sequels to them too.

It happened with the animated film so why the hell not, Disney? Knock yourselves out. I wouldn't mind sequels to these remakes if it made sense. Like they're supposed to remake Black Cauldron? There's five books in the series it was based on. That'd be interesting. Or a sequel to the Jungle Book based off other Kipling stories.

I hope not. All I can think about is the crappy DTV sequels from the '90's and 00's.

It wouldn't surprise me if they did, but because of the nature of the story, it doesn't lend itself to sequels. Like with "Cinderella," I have a feeling they'll just leave it as a one-off, rather than risk another "Alice Through The Looking Glass." They are going to make a sequel to "The Jungle Book," but that movie left potential for it.

I don't thonk they should just try and recreate the classic movie, but maybe do a retelling based on the book.

I've always been kind of interested in an actual follow-up to Beauty and the Beast, even though it's pretty much a self-contained story. I guess I just like the characters and want to see what happens next. Like, Belle really wanted to travel and go on adventures, so I wonder if she'd grow bored of the castle? Now that Adam is a prince again, how's he gonna rule? How far off is the French Revolution?

I don't think the writers working for Disney have the imagination or the skills to come up with a new story for a sequel. Why else do you think they are just sticking to remaking their own stuff? So that they don't have to strain their little heads to think of something new. It's easier to just pick a classic cartoon and follow it scene by scene in the live-action remake, with a few small changes here and there.
