Love the practical effects in this one.
Also is Stranger things (the tv show) like it at all? Someone told me it was influenced by it.

Fun little horror/adventure film, and I like the stop-motion demons that Tibor Takács often used in his films. The sequel The Gate II: Trespassers (1990) (I did not learn that there was a sequel made before in 2012) was actually pretty entertaining, maybe in a more comedy/horror tone than the original, but it was cool seeing Terrence back in action, and also hooking up with the cute girl who reminded me a lot of a young Demi Moore. Just wished they would re-release the second one, as it seem to go for a very hefty price, even for a used copy.
I, Madman (1989) also directed by Tibor Takács is good horror/thriller gem, starring the beautiful Jenny Wright and comes with a more stylished and darker tone than with The Gate films, and for me is one of the best "forgotten" slasher/horror films of the late 80s.

Loving it, stefancrosscoe formulates it well. These stop motion effects I also love in Dolls (1987), one of my favorite horror movies.

"Just wished they would re-release the second one, as it seem to go for a very hefty price, even for a used copy." I just thought I should inform those who like me want to see a new release of the second film, as I was randomly browsing through Amazon.com, just for the fun of it, I did a little quick search for The Gate II (1990) to maybe look if there was any changes with the prices and to my big surprise Shout! Factory is about to release it in 2018 on Blu-ray!. The only "downpart" well, for me is that it will likely only play on American and Canadian blu-ray players, and again as with the Suspiria upcoming release, I am not sure I will pay up for a new blu-ray player only because of one film, and hopefully it might also be released either with a DVD disc included or something like that. I really want this in my collection standing aside the first one. It is by far not a great movie but it do have a certain b-movie charm that I enjoy and I thought it was cool seeing Terrence back as the main character.

It is stupid, I know. But I really want the second one to stand beside the first one in my horror collection, still it means I will probably have to go out and buy an american/canadian Blu-ray player just because of one film. However, I was hoping for some fans of it to write of their experiment with this 2018 release, still after checking out at Shout! Factorys site, it says it they have now changed the release date and pushed it to the end of february instead. I know it is very little to go by, but I really wish they would include a DVD copy of the film, then I would buy it, but just a Code A version, well, I'll guess I have to wait a little longer for somebody else to hand out a release, and one which will work with european Blu-ray players.
