First of all, it's a teaser, not a trailer. So obviously we won't get to see much. It's not exactly a bad teaser, unlike say the one we got from Captain Marvel. The main difference between these two teasers is that you see character personality in the A4 teaser. You get a sense of the tone of the movie. It gives you an idea of the setting and attitude of the movie.... which is what I believe a teaser should be. You had none of that in the Captain Marvel teaser. It felt like just sequence of scenes shown one after the other without giving you enough room to breathe.
That said, why does the A4 teaser feel so underwhelming? Well, because we've been spoiled by the MCU. They've made it a habit to release full trailers under the guise of teasers. So when they finally gave us a teaser that was really just a teaser, we feel shortchanged. Like it was lacking. As far as real teasers go (and not full trailers parading as teasers) this is actually pretty decent.

It's a great teaser. The previous film ended on the biggest cliffhanger of all time, they aren't going to give everything away in the teaser for the next film. It's still going to be awkward when Spidey is running around in the Far From Home trailer, but that's the price you pay when you make a deal with the devil.
It's a solid teaser that gives you a feel for the film without giving anything away. I've already seen people complaining about the Ant-Man spoiler, and we already knew he was still alive. Imagine if anyone else had shown up in that teaser.

It means you understand what teasers are supposed to be. Some people here don't.

You can argue whether it’s the ‘best’ cliffhanger of all time, but who went bigger than 50% of the living universe?

Is there another franchise with 20 films to its credit that decided to kill off half of its cast in the final five minutes? I can't think of one.

Is there another franchise with 20 films to its credit that decided to kill off half of its cast in the final five minutes? I can't think of one. I literally felt nothing at the end of Infinity War. And I liked it up until the lame ending where they killed a bunch of people with new movies coming out. That sort of stupidity deserves ridicule, not praise. Whether or not you liked it, it was still the biggest cliffhanger of all time.

Mcu fans trashed venom and dark Phoenix teaser trailers even though they set up the tone perfectly by not showing too much. Now A4 trailer getting praise for the same thing

I would've included one or two more big reveals. But I liked it. And I agree with your points, I have a better idea of what to expect from this movie based on the teaser than I do from two whole Captain Marvel trailers.

I liked it the minute I saw it, I wasn't expecting much to be revealed...nor did I want that out of the trailer. I may not watch any actual trailers when they come out; I want the movie itself to be as fresh an experience as it can possibly be. (Though based on the Infinity War trailers, any upcoming ones for Endgame might be 50% bogus anyway. )

But what about “Where we’re going we don’t need roads.” And Remember when a Western Union guy delivered a letter to Marty decades after it was sent and we found out Doc was alive in the old west? Biggest. Cliffhangers. Ever.

Now A4 trailer getting praise for the same thing The Dark Phoenix trailer was trashed because it looked exactly like what it was, more of the same. In all likelihood, it probably gave away too much, considering the lack of imagination and scope the Fox-Men films have had in the past.

Amen to this. Also, the emotions of the characters made it that much more intriguing, like when we see Stark at the beginning recording himself. It’s very serious and delves into psychological aspects like losing others. It’s a very fine teaser and I think people were underwhelmed for the wrong reasons.

I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader's his father, uh -- Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is: a series of down endings. All Jedi had was a bunch of Muppets!"
