London, England television schedule for Saturday 12 March 1949. Most things on this schedule are lost, however at least part of the "BBC Television Newsreel" survives, featuring a report on Princess Elizabeth's visit to Coventry. Although complete editions of the series are very rare (the earliest to survive from 1953), many individual news reports from the series survive. People who live in the UK can watch the report here (sadly, I can't view it where I live): www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0155426Here's the schedule: 11:00AM - The BBC Television Newsreelsign-off 2:40PM - Rugby League: England vs. France sign-off 8:00PM - Rooftop Rendezvous9:00PM - Ice Hockey: Earl's Court Rangers v. Harringay Greyhounds 9:45PM - The BBC Television Newsreel10:00PM - News (sound only)

For example, various episodes of "Chevrolet Tele-Theatre" are held by the Library of Congress. If you ask me, they should be digitised and made available, instead of just rotting in the vaults.
