It's probably been posted already but I absolutely love this instrumental version of Cerrone's Supernature, especially in the opening to Gaspar Noe's film Climax with this incredible dance routine that just keeps going and going and going...
When the DJ in yellow (who is also a disco / house producer by the name of Kiddy Smile) enters the dance floor at 2:20 things heat up and then shit gets serious at 3:00 when the guy in the tracksuit goes rhythmically berserk with his arms.

I mostly only know disco from my youth thanks to my mom's love of the genre, but I must say I've become more interested in it since I took to exploring the last 10-20 years of pop music and hearing many contemporary artists taking on the influence. Two favorites from the last few years would be Carly Rae Jepsen's Julien:
and Ariana Grande's Greedy:
If anyone could recommend any more disco similar to either of these--I especially love how chill and dreamy the Jepsen song is--please recommend some.

Disco is often dismissed as a genre, but it shouldn't be. Yes, there is some saccharine sweet nonsense, but dig a little deeper, and there are rich rewards. After all, it is the foundation/ building block for both hip hop and modern dance music. So if you like dance music, put on your dancing shoes, or sit this one out... I'll kick off with some proto-disco tunes. Babatunde Olatunji - Oya (Primitive Fire) (1960) I had never opened this thread because I hate disco, but just opened it to find ... Baba! My ex and I arranged for him to play in Palo Alto, our percussion band opened the show, and I requested this song! I felt a little bad because the rest of the band had to wait it out.

I used to be ambivalent to disco until about 6 years ago, and then started sifting the wheat from the chaff, and really got into it. Without disco I would never have come across Babatunde Olatunji, I don't think. Sounds like an interesting night you had with him.

As an aside, one of the dancers in the video is Throbbing Gristle's Cosey Fanni Tutti.

I think this counts, and pretty cool that I found it via a random YouTube recommendation. Again, love the super-chill vibe of this:
