This got a Scream Factory Collector's Edition Blu-ray? This??!!
I watched this for the first time last night and was baffled at what I was witnessing. How did I not know that this movie basically boils down to 45 minutes of flashbacks of the previous movie and a handful of meme-worthy moments?
There was some fun/funny stuff in the back half, but I just don't think I can ever forgive a movie that wastes so much of my time.
4/10

Guess what day it is?
Anyone else think this guy looks like Matthew Broderick's evil twin?

As ashamed as I am to say it, I want the Scream Factory release. I wanna watch this movie, but I couldn’t!

Per the trivia: There wasn't enough material for a full-length film, so numerous flashback sequences were added. The film still ran short, so almost 10 minutes of closing credits were added.
It's a shame there wasn't enough footage. Because what new footage there was I actually enjoyed.

There might be plenty of filler (those flashbacks), but I tend to forgive it as I do enjoy its goofy (almost self-aware) charm when it gets going. And Eric Freeman is too much fun.
Nice little cameo from the director as the guy next to the jerk in the back row.

It went out of print in 2004 and then they put the set out again in 2012. The version I got was from 2012, but as I understand it, the only difference is in the packaging.

It's watchable but drowns in recycled footage/. The original's the only way to go.

This movie has to be seen for all the hammy acting, but the next three in the series are pretty meh and forgettable.

It's totally lame because it's barely its own movie when almost half of it is just recycled footage. But some of the new stuff is super fun for all it's absurd terribleness. The garbage day sequence is just as much fun in context as it is on youtube.

So I watched the third one the other night.
What a slog. I think I would've preferred another 45 minutes of flashbacks.

So I watched the third one the other night. What a slog. I think I would've preferred another 45 minutes of flashbacks. Silent Night, Deadly Night 3 was disappointing, especially with some of the names involved. Easily the worst in the series for me. A definite cure for insomnia. I do find next two enjoyable, but very different to the previous films, especially Brian Yuzna’s Part IV.

I have to give it a thumbs up if for nothing more than correcting the HUGE mistake of the first movie.

Anonymous Andy I saw it online not waiting to get the Blu-ray. Yeah it’s pretty awful. But the scenes with Ricky are classic! But.. seriously what was up with the flashbacks taking up half the movie? And how the HELL does Ricky know all about what happened in Part 1? He wasn’t even there in certain scenes and there was NO WAY Billy would’ve told him all this because when he saw him in the Santa suit at the end, he got shot right before he was able to kill Mother Superior. So he couldn’t have known, it’s impossible. Unless if there’s some sort of psyche plot device in there, it’s never explained anyway.

I've never seen this but based on some comments here it sounds like a real mess. Why even bother making a sequel when all you afford to do is have mostly stock footage??
