I had a moment of stupidity and read it the other day. I feel guilt for giving them hits.

Back in the old days of the early 2000s, Internet losers like you guys never had a voice. Only a socially maladapted perma-virgin would wear a t-shirt with the slogan "George Lucas raped my childhood". That dude was never invited to parties nor been kissed by a girl. However, since the early 2010s; with the rise of public networking platforms like Twitter and YouTube, nobodies like Spoony, Angry Joe and James Rolfe now have a voice. They and their loser fanbase believe they have some credibility and authority on film and the general public's perception of film, thanks to their elevated status. In the real world though, where people have lives, no one cares about what Internet geeks think.

Disney Star Wars haters: "How dare you call is racists and misogynists?!"
Also 90% of Disney Star Wars haters: Do nothing but complain about women and minorities having lead roles in the movies.

Too much truth in that article. Star Wars fans have become ridiculous.
Say what you will abour Star Trek fans. But there are lines even they won’t cross.

Also 90% of Disney Star Wars haters: Do nothing but complain about women and minorities having lead roles in the movies. what a relieve then, Crepy, that the good 10% of fans who do not constantly complain about women and minorities having lead roles in the movies are all on this very forum where you constantly keep complaining about the bad 90%.

So the author of the article thinks that citing a few examples of extreme fans and trolls masquerading as SW fans proves that this represents all SW fans who have criticized any of the Disney SW movies?
This is just more of the media using this false narrative of blaming all the problems that Disney SW has had on the fanbase. Afraid of losing their perks and privileges with Disney. If any of these idiots actually tried to write about this objectively, they would see that the majority of complaints found on social media and forums have nothing to do with character gender or race. But somehow that's never reported or addressed in any of these articles. I wonder why?
This is one of the worst examples. A blame-shifting whine fest from a melodramatic shill.

Holy fuck that was stupid. The whiniest click bait dreck I ever read (half). Top 5 hands down. The whole "toxic fan" propaganda narrative is ludicrous. The article doesn't even make sense in terms of trying to sell that. The Tran quote, for instance, says literally nothing at all about "fans" or TLJ; in fact, KMT's quoted statement is an indictment, if anything, of the bullshit cultural values projected onto her by major media outlets, like Disney and Esquire. The whole thing is beyond ridiculous. People don't like these shitty Disney movies because they fucking suck.

Disney Star Wars haters: "How dare you call is racists and misogynists?!" Also 90% of Disney Star Wars haters: Do nothing but complain about women and minorities having lead roles in the movies. Actually it's the other way around. Actually it's closer to 10% complain about women and minorities in leading roles. 90% complain about real issues: ranging from poor characterizations to plot holes to mangling the mythos. Bad writing and even occasional bad acting. This can be verified by forums and critical YouTube videos. But that doesn't fit the narrative of people who want to sell the weaknesses of this product instead of addressing them and improving them.

But that doesn't fit the narrative of people who want to sell the weaknesses of this product instead of addressing them and improving them. Well, and it's like: if you'd told me in 2012 that Disney would spend $4b on an IP (the Cadillac of IPs, no less), only to shart out sequels written on the fly and without even so much as a broad outline along with a couple generic "Star Wars Stories" and then allow their creative talent to relentlessly mock and ridicule people who had the temerity to voice dissatisfaction with their terrible, defective, and widely disliked product (see: 45% RT score) I would've said you were fucking nuts. This, incidentally, from the same studio that bought Marvel and turned a bunch of C- and D-list loser characters nobody ever particularly gave a shit about into the biggest moneymaker in Hollywoodland! But Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia -- icons of cinema that will tower over the likes of Iron Mang and Captian America even if they make a hundred more middling MCU movies -- are treated like trash? Oof. I wouldn't have believed any of this possible. Not out of some reverence for SW or those characters, but because it's stunningly poor business sense, something not commonly associated with the Disney brand. I thought, if anything, the movies would be "fine." Competent if soulless in their execution. They're absolute trash, and the people who made them are fucking classless human garbage. Rian "with an I" Johnson had to delete twenty thousand hostile, inappropriate, or otherwise problematic tweets. TWENTY. THOUSAND. And douchebag simpletons on here like kuatorises have the gall to call ME a troll for pointing this out while defending this drivel to his dying breath and spouting tired, long-disproven "prequel hater" talking points like it's 2003? Good fucking grief.

I take solace in the fact I was against Disney buying Star Wars back in 2011/2012.
It was heartbreaking to see how many supported it, especially since most of them hated George Lucas and believed that Star Wars was better off in Disney hands.
As a long time fan it sucks seeing this franchise crash and burn. It's EA-Bioware all over again.

My sister called me at work all the way from California to tell me the news had just broken. She was shocked at my reaction: "B -- but you love Star Tours and the classic Disney stuff. And there's gonna be an Episode VII! Isn't that... a good thing?" My answer was, "No." lol

Everyone knows Sherlock Holmes is the original toxic fandom. They went nuts when the last reboot made Watson a dumbass. I tossed the reply out in jest, but weren't the original fans of the books actually a pain in SACD's ass? I seem to recall hearing once about him not wanting to keep writing them but almost feeling forced at the behest of his fandom. I feel like Nalkarj would know the answer, possibly. ETA: I'll google this and see what I can find.
