Give me your five favorite. Don't care whose rendition. Nothing newly written in the last forty or so years, no matter how good (sorry Kinks).

All of them blow chunks, they are all sentimental, cheesy, nauseating dreck about how wonderful Christmas is and how wonderful life is when nothing could be further from the truth. All of it is pure propaganda telling you to be happy, I hate it. I would rather listen to rap or country music than Christmas music, and I hate rap and country music.

Sorry to chime in here, as I don’t post on the Sports board, but I like the topic.
With that said, I do get bored of the same Christmas songs repeated over and over again this time of the year. “White Christmas” and “The Christmas Song” are rather nice, as are many of the old-fashioned religious carols (“Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” “Silent Night,” etc.). Many of the newer ones have rather poor lyrics (“Blue Christmas,” “Feliz Navidad”), and some of them are absolutely dreadful (“Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer,” “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” “Santa Baby,” “The Chipmunk Song”).
I’ve always liked “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” but only Judy Garland’s rendition in Meet Me in St. Louis. It tends to be oversung. “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” isn’t very good, but it has one nice part (which I’ve used for a “signature” here for this month). “Winter Wonderland,” “Let It Snow,” “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” and “Christmas in Killarney” are good (though I suppose officially one of them is a Christmas song, the other few winter songs).
One of the best, even if it’s not strictly Christmassy, is “Sleigh Ride.” The music is excellent, and the lyrics are actually well-written—some good internal rhymes and a lovely feminine one, “before us” and “chorus.”

I've always loved McCartney's "Wonderful Christmas Time". Some call it typical Paul smaltzy kind of stuff, but I think it's great. 🎄

So is you're stance that life sucks and it's not worth living? That's very sad.

The Waitresses Christmas Wrapping is like fucking nails on a chalkboard to me. It's so god damn annoying. Another newer one that I don't understand not being in regular rotation is What's This from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Maybe Disney doesn't license it out or something, but it's one of the most joyful Christmas songs ever written.

Sort of the song equivalent of "Is Diehard a Christmas movie?" - - is "Linus and Lucy" a Christmas song?
