By that I mean, is the franchise going to officially be at a point where the studio will claim that everything is still in one continuity, despite the blatant contradictions from movies like Bumblebee? Granted, I haven’t seen the movie yet, but from the sounds of it, the film is apparently in the odd position of both acknowledging and blatantly contradicting the previous films, and as far as I know, the people who made the film are trying to pass it off as a prequel. I’d be lying if I said that the whole thing didn’t call to mind what Fox did with X-Men: First Class.

I haven't seen "Bumblebee" yet, either...
But from what I hear, it sounds like this movie is being received far better than, at least the majority of, the other films.
Perhaps, the studio will decide to use "Bumblebee" as a starting point for a soft reboot of the franchise, ignoring the other films...

Possibly, depends on how much Bumblebee earns in the end. I know that when production BEGAN on Bumblebee it was a total prequel in line with the continuity of the others, but as development went on they went into more of a soft reboot kind of direction as the more they had the better it was received by test audiences - The G1-esque opening was added last minute.

The ending event semi-aligns with TF1, yet the year & date of that does not, unless TF1 was taking place in 1987 which would be impossible considering the tech & info age stuff dotting that film.
On the other hand, they could easily discard TF1's premise &/or existence by retconning that Earthbound arrival & make it their own. Which would great to see this new gen TF art direction & less self-serious tone.

Yes they probably will do that but I don’t think that anyone really cares if they do. No one watches the Bay films for the plot, so what difference does it make if it’s contradicted? Other film series couldn’t stand for contradiction but Transformers will be fine.

Besides, TF Bumblebee is already gearing towards a new gen of kids, more than the Bay films which tried too hard to impress G1 fans.

I wasn't all that impressed with the Bay films... There were some good things about the films, but there were many bad things too... The only thing I loved about Bay's films, was Bay's Decepticon "Barricade"... The Evil Police Car... Oh, how I wish that had been in the cartoon, back in the day! Such a cool concept. As I said, I haven't seen "Bumblebee" yet... But, from what I hear, G1 fans are enjoying "Bumblebee" more than the other films.

Actually, the problems were that they didn't impress G1 fans all that much. I can't really think of any G1 fans who looked at Bay's films and thought, "Yep, that's awesome."
