What are some visual music performances [stage or video ] for you that have that BiG shine of lustre and glitter emanating from it's presence? The whole band or maybe just one chap or chappess. Could be their motion, their axe-work, their voice, something indefinable even. Show us yours.
Gonna go for a kick-off here with Fleetwood Mac in'76 and particularly Stevie Nick's unforgettable performance of RHiANN0N. The whole band are so on song here, Lyndsey is ace on the axe, but from the moody but chilled start, this builds into a chilling, blistering finale with Stevie almost on another plane.
Half way through...my godfathers...what the f*ck happened? The power of music displayed here at it's most potent. Some say chemically and/or alcohol assisted...who gives a flyer, it is brilliant. And the beauty is, thanks to YouTube and tech and stuff, we have this nugget forever.

Top notch Dr Feelgood with monster guitarist Wilco on a mission. This remains one of the most brilliant guitar performances I ever saw on TV. Johnson is amazing.

Ok so it's not exactly a live performance. It's Jeffrey Daniel dancing to his band's Shalamar hit Night To Remember on British TV show Top Of The Pops. I remember the next day at school everyone was talking about the "backwards walk" thing he did. A year later the "world" went crazy when Michael Jackson did it on the Motown 25 show (after Daniel taught him how

Fania All-Stars - Congo Bongo (Yankee Stadium '73)
Extraordinary concert. Salsa's coming out party.
Congo Bongo is the last song, where Ray Barretto, Mongo Santamaria and Billy Cobham worked the stadium into such a frenzy, the audience broke through security, onto the playing field, ensuring the promoters lost their $50,000 deposit guaranteeing the field would not be breached. With security completely broken down, the promoter then took to the stage to end the song, and also the concert.
Whereupon, he escaped to the afterparty in his limo with the box office takings stuffed into suitcases, and the performers also escaping back stage, leaving the crowd furious, faced with an empty stage of abandoned gear. So they clambered up and helped themselves to thousands of dollars of gear, leaving behind only cables and mic stands, even Larry Harlow's piano was taken.

Studio Version much better. Listen to Gary Moore's live 15 minute version of 'The Loner'. You'll be stunned.

This will always stay with me...a brilliant day with umpteen performing to raise money to help desperately unfortunate fellow men. Who cares if some folk in London and Philadelphia just participated to boost their profile....something was happening...and the music!! This performance stands out, as well as the hairs on my back when often re-visiting it
Bowie [ a long time hero of mine] at the top of his game, commanding the stage, and owning that large audience and the band all extremely, theatrical and watchable from the dancers, percussionist, Thomas Dolby on keys, all of the damn thing. Adore this.
