I felt like I was watching a sequel to a movie I hadn't seen. Maybe it you needed to follow the comics? They tried to put too much in it. A first film with more of him coming into his powers and more background on Atlantean mythology and the different kingdoms would have been nice. Black Manta could have been the antagonist in a first film. His presence seemed pointless in this entry. I also kind of wonder what Dwayne Johnson would have done with the role. It was his kind of movie, and while he isn't an Oscar movie actor, what he does he does well. Momoa is great at being Khal Drogo but that's where it ends for me. Willem Dafoe was great in his small role. The effects were fun and comic-book like, which gets a pass from me in an underwater world. I'm still confused about why some of them can breathe air and water and some only water. Over all, a bit of a missed opportunity IMO. 6.5/10 I agree about there needing to have been more background on Aquaman and his powers, but overall, I thought Momoa did a good job playing him. He was the best thing about the movie, in my opinion. Heard can't act and this film only confirmed that; on the other hand, Dafoe who is usually a good actor, was wooden in this. The CGI of young Aquaman's parents was the worst I've ever seen, and I don't see why they chose to go that route when younger actors could have played the parts. I was also confused as to why some of them could breathe air and some not. Still, I thought it a fun film.

Only those of royal blood could breath above and below the waterline - a genetic disorder so to speak*. I enjoyed Heard very much. Hence, by this, I publicly denounce you (what must be something pretty bad for in Civilization I get permanently denounced by the other AI players). The actor of Aquaman's father was a direct request from Momoa for he is a fan of this actor. Kidman...maybe they thought they needed a big name that was affordable. *There are many ways evolution works: isolation, selection, adaption, but the most powerful, slowest and "costly" one is the mutation of the genetic code. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haemophilia#European_royalty

I am prejudiced against Heard. I don't believe for a minute that Depp was abusive to her.

Don't worry, I do not worship the Seven, and I guess Cthulhu only wants some walk of eternal suffering or so - a very reasonable deity indeed. As for Depp: I like his early work (among other 21 Jump Street - got the entire TV-show on DVD with the original music), and even stuff like Dark Shadows (even have a blu ray copy of this one), but Mortecai, or the lone stranger...ouch! And I wouldn't rule out domestic violence if the person has a history of alcoholism, addiction and violence (security, crew members, hotel staff on several occasion): "In July 2018, Depp was sued for allegedly punching a crew member twice in the ribs during a foul-mouthed tirade. Court documents stated that the actor "reeked of alcohol" and took drugs on set." www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-44778997And when it comes to Heard: there are witnesses, and one of them who called the police, and photos, hence I rather tend to believe Mrs. Heard. But they settled their issues, and I leave it at that.
