Blimey, that's SO hard as I adore them. Gonna go for The Great Beyond [today] the emotional and sorta uplifting song to Andy Kauffman. This'll change next time the Question is asked.

"Best" for an incredible band like REM, who existed for as long as they did, while remaining viable, is impossible...I'll give my favorite off each album (Even then, not easy or absolute)
Chronic Town(1982): "Carnival of Sorts (Box Cars)" Murmur(1983): "Perfect Circle" Reckoning(1984): "Harborcoat" Fables of the Reconstruction(1985): "Driver 8" Lifes Rich Pageant (1986): "Begin the Begin" Document (1987): "Exhuming McCarthy" Green (1988): "You are the everything" Out of Time (1991): "Low" Automatic for the People (1992): "Nightswimming" Monster (1994): "Strange Currencies" New Adventures in Hi-Fi (1996): "Undertow" Up (1998): "Why not smile" Reveal (2001): "All the way to Reno" Around the Sun (2004): "Electron Blue" Accelerate (2008): "Living well is the best Revenge" Collapse into Now (2011): "Everyday is yours to win"

That will change from day to day, but let's just say "Perfect Circle" is always in the running.

A lot of great tunes, but "Fall On Me" has been my favorite for as long as I can recall.

LOVE the song "The One I Love".
Plus, they did a great rendition of "Love Is All Around" on their "Unplugged" session.

I liked when they rocked out, like in The Wake-up Bomb, Star 69 anfd What's the Frequency, Kenneth?
I think the song that will follow them throughout history will be Everybody Hurts, however.

I'm not as big of a fan as many others seem to be, but I've always liked "What's The Frequency, Kenneth?", "Stand", and "At My Most Beautiful".

In CHAD we think it is either Man on the Moon or So. Central Rain. I am laughing and cringing at the votes for Shiny Happy People. A song for betas and cucks. It's funny you say that because I generally think of R.E.M. as being a pretty beta/cuck type of band, but "Shiny Happy People" is one of the few songs that makes it sound like they got laid recently. I can just picture citizens of Chad getting butt naked and dancing exuberantly like in the video.
