. LOL, that's one aspect I'm not fond of, but I don't get bitten often, I have a good all-natural repellant I use. It also repels some people, which is often a good thing!

Not really. I'm still waiting for summer to properly kick in. Around here, 113 degrees Fahrenheit or more is becoming relatively common during summer. Although I prefer cooler weather. Aaaargh! How do you stand that kind of heat? Is all of Australia that warm?

Sandman - Rural South Australia. There are places in Australia that receive snowfall, normally only in winter - but they are well over a thousand kilometres away from where I currently live.

If I would just win a lottery I would buy this place and never think about snow again!

How do you stand that kind of heat? Is all of Australia that warm? No, I live down south. Up north, closer towards the equator, it gets much hotter for much longer periods of the year, even including winter.
However, there are areas further south from where I live, such as Tasmania, that are usually - but not always - cooler.
Down south we mainly get dry heat. Up north, it's humid heat. From personal experience of living up north in the late 1970s, I prefer the dry heat.

Well, given all that, I might should quit whining about the weather where I live. I think I would burn to a crisp Down Under! My ancestors were Nordic.

However, generally, I find it easy enough to cope.
Plenty of cold drinks, an air conditioner and a dark room.

The Summers in New Orleans are too hot. The Winters are mild. Spring down here just means the hot Summer is on the way. So no, I am not ready for Spring.

Geez, I'm getting old and befuddled - I forgot we both have Dutch blood! I'm a outdoor kinda girl, but the extremes are daunting - it's hard to be outside in the frigid wind or the humid heat. The residence of my dreams would be a cabin in a forest next to a spring-fed brook, with ferns and moss and deer grazing near by in a clearing, but not eating my vegetables. And, no, I'm not drinking... yet!

cold weather sucks. At least it isn't as Cold as it was last Janucember here in Pennsylvania. I'm from Southern California and spent 10 years living in the Seattle Area. I've never had single digit weather. That was hell screen shot from last year

. Hey, Sulla, did you know that, during the Zika outbreak, scientists bio-engineered a mosquito that would mate with a regular mosquito but produce sterile offspring? Fewer mosquitos, less disease spread, and no DDT. I need to google to see how that is working. Birth control for bugs!

Not me. I like winter, but prefer a cool crisp autumn. Spring is the worst for me. Once the weather hits 65 I don't need it to get any hotter. The problem is, everyone seems to make some big event out of "what day will it finally hit 70?" There is nothing worse than oppressive heat and sunshine blasting UV light in my eyes. Once it hits 75 and up, I am definitely miserable. And what makes it worse is all of the people who say "it's gorgeous outside!" when it's 85 and humid. People think "nice" and "hot" are interchangeable words. I hate hearing "it's almost too nice today" when it's 98. "Too nice" would be so extremely comfortable and enjoyable that you would dread the day coming to an end. 98 is horrible, especially where I live and the humidity gets insane.
We have this local weather guy on television. The only time I ever see him is when I go to visit my parents - who still watch local news channels. This guy seems like a nice enough dude - but I want to punch him in the face. He is a heat lover. If we're having 90 degree days and the next few days will dip into the mid-80's, he will be like "bad news is we're going to have a cool down, but don't worry - it will be back up well into the 90's next week". Or if there is 40% cloudy, he will act like it's the end of the world, then assure everyone not to worry because the clouds will clear up and get back to 100% sunshine without a cloud in the sky for the next few days. Or he acts like it's the apocalypse if there is rain in the forecast. Aside from being uncomfortable, I hate when my landscaping gets burnt out - because after a heat wave and no precipitation things get burnt and they are done for the year. Or grass getting completely orange and yellow, or even some trees will get their leaves attacked by some disease when it gets too hot. Last year we had over 100 for a few days straight, in mid May. Ruined two of my nice trees for the entire spring and summer. And this weatherman was loving it - goading people on to thinking they loved it too. Idiots were all saying "summer is here early, I hope this lasts all season!"

It's probably more effective than my idea of handing out millions of tiny condoms.
