For me no hesitation....fave is Chestnut Mare. (Album version preferably). I love a lot of ByrdSongs...easy To SWALLOW, very BEAKoming, but Mare is for me their fiNEST. (SO sorry..having a pun attack)
I loved the paeon to a desired horse when I first heard the single version many moons ago...still do, but now it is also a very nostalgic, happy snowglobe to a carefree time when the most important things in life were, football, tenpin, laughs, Marvel comics and girls. Sigh. Gonna put in on, Foxy.

I Wasn't Born To Follow is probably my favorite.

"Eight Miles High", thanks to Husker Du covering it and introducing me to it way back when. The Byrds' version is better, of course.

Eight Miles High. The only Byrds song I find outstanding.

Dr, you know I hold you in the greatest of respect but I think this version is better:

I know of them, BUT don't know their actual songs. I think of them as a Beatles wannabe.

Eight Miles High The Bells Of Rhymney Turn! Turn! Turn! RiP, IMDb George Harrison loved the Byrds and Roger McGuinn's guitar playing. Got him into playing 12 string. When he heard The Bells Of Rhymney, he recorded If I Needed Someone as a tribute and sent a copy to McGuinn as soon as he finished it.

How can you have any opinion about a band that you claim that you haven't even heard?

Could have been just about anything from Sweetheart of the Rodeo for me. Will go with "One Hundred Years From Now". I don't like C/W music. Not a bit. But I love Sweetheart of the Rodeo. My wife says "Because it's Country Music by a rock band", but I not that huge of a fan of The Byrds. To answer the original question, probably "I am a Pilgrim".

Not the biggest country fan either, but love that album. Love all the early "jangly" stuff also. Not as big on the post- Sweetheart albums.

I listened to SOTR for the first time because I read about the Byrds playing at the Grand Ole Opry and being crucified by the C/W fans. i was just curious. I'm listening and wondering "Why do I like this?"
I still can't figure it out.

Pretty Boy Floyd is good, Life in Prison not bad. But nope.
