This is extremely disappointing. The solo and spinoff films were becoming the best part of the FoX-Men with Deadpool 1-2 and Logan. Then New Mutants has been looking awesome.
I love the MCU and am excited for them to have Fantastic Four, but I think I'd give that up to keep this specific franchise going. Even though the main stories seem to be going downhill after DOFP, with the dreadful Apocalypse and what appears to be a lackluster Dark Phoenix, there is still so much potential with their solo outings.
I wish Disney would at least allow the current incarnation of Deadpool to stick around and leave it be without watering it down. Could you imagine Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson commenting on his new situation? Ugh. What a waste.

What does it say about Rob Liefeld as an artist that this is his reaction?

Of course this is Rob Liefeld. Captain McPouch Tiny Feet, but you would think his mind wouldn't go to the amount of grosses the movie would've made. The man that brought us Deadpool yes, good on him, but gave us this too: And if you haven't heard this before I recommend it:

Grabthar's Hammer Dark Phoenix is not a mainline X-Men film according to Kinberg. That’s like saying Civil War was an Avengers movie. Just saying.

I expected this, I hope they keep Ryan as Deadpool tho, you can put his movies in the MCU with little ease.

I don't care about the X-Men series coming to an end, I think they've done everything they can with that. I also don't care about this New Mutants movie either.
I am however concerned with what's going to happen to Deadpool. I want more Deadpool but I don't know how that's going to work.
If Disney was smart they'd just keep him as his own series, don't tie it into the MCU and don't tone it down. Just keep it as it is.

This is good news but, I won't truly believe until one of the major trades blasts it from their home page. Nearly two decades of misguided X-Product is at an end.

Nothing that can be done. Hopefully the reshoots of New Mutants give the franchise a good send off and push the bar on original content that Disney wont be able to match.

What disappoints me the most is news that Noah Hawley's Dr. Doom project is dead. He's one of the best screen writers working today and Legion is the most sophisticated take on the X-Men to ever grace a screen.

The point is that his work on Legion is innovative and intelligent, an indication that his take on Dr. Doom was probably going to be refreshing and very good.
