Have you ever dealt with a snowstorm? Really not that big of a deal. Comparing it to a hurricane is asinine. The point was, you can avoid a hurricane which hits New Orleans once every 10-20 years. Most people up north cannot avoid a snowstorm. Most people in New Orleans have never suffered any damage from a hurricane. Much less any injury or death. Most people up north have to deal with snow and all its aggravation every winter. Sure, I guess, but you said you'd rather "deal" with a hurricane than a snowstorm (et al). I've lived up north for more years than not during my life and I've dealt with countless snowstorms, some featuring several feet of snow. You shovel it or use a snowblower and.....that's it. It's not "aggravating" at all. It just is. If anything, you get a day off work when it happens. I've also been personally affected by Hurricane Sandy which destroyed the town where I lived at the time that it hit. FUCK THAT. Yeah, we saw it coming for a week or so beforehand, and then it fucked our entire way of life for months. We lived out of suitcases in my in-laws house, our stuff was gone, our businesses were closed for a long time, people are still dealing with the insurance snafus resulting from that. The idea that only a few of us, relative to the entire population of the north east, were affected thus making it insignificant is hogwash. Snowstorms are nothing more than a minor nuisance. Hurricanes are awful and hopefully nobody here has to go through what I went through back in 2012....and I wasn't killed by it.

Digging out your front walk, driveway, and sometimes your front door. Not to mention digging out and de-icing your car. Ice and black ice. 14 layers of clothes. Your car rusting out due to salt on the roads. We don't have to deal with any of that. I have never had any damage due to a hurricane. Yes, I need to evacuate once in a while. But like most responsible people, I have planned ahead. You get snow days. We get a free trip where bill payments are delayed.

It depends on when certain acts will perform. They have a great lineup this year. The Rolling Stones, Cyndi Lauper, Katy Perry, Dave Matthews Band, Santana, Pitbull, Van Morrison, John Fogerty, Al Green, Bob Seger, Jimmy Buffett, etc. I think the performance schedule is available online.

I'm seeing the Stones (for the first time) in June at MetLife Stadium, but Weekend 2 is pretty jam packed with great stuff: Ziggy Marley (awesome live) Mavis Staples Gary Clark Jr. Los Lobos Kamasi Washington Kermit Gladys Knight North Mississippi All-Stars (lowest billing possible, not sure why, these guys kick ass) Galactic John Fogerty Herbie Hancock (!!) Little Feat Buddy Guy 1st weekend has Revivalists, Rebirth and Leon Bridges (among others) so I'd be sorry to miss those but I've seen them all a bunch of times.

They will post the schedule later on. Of course that doesn't do any favors for those making resevations.

Yeah, not a huge fan of DMB, I'd see them if they weren't conflicting with anyone else but they'll draw such a massive crowd and I don't want to miss other acts just to hold down a spot. 2 years ago, Alabama Shakes were atop my list of acts I wanted to see but I didn't camp out at the main stage and when they came on, I couldn't get within a 1/4 mile of the stage. Santana I saw once at Jazz Fest way back in 1999 or 2000 when I was at Tulane. I remember him coming out, playing a solo, and then basically walking off stage for 40 minutes while his band just jammed, then he came back out to play Smooth, and that was it. Lame as shit. Van Morrison, Al Green and Bob Seger I'd definitely check out if I end up going for different days.

Since I graduated, I've been back about a dozen times. It's an easy flight from NY and my wife loves it down there so we head down when we can for long weekends. Love the food scene, obviously, and the music scene is terrific.

Hurricane Georges hit but my friends and I (very stupidly, in hindsight) went to my friend's place in Destin, which ended up getting hit significantly harder during that storm. It took us about 8 days to be able to leave Destin to get back to school.

I wonder how many snowstorms hit new York during those 4 years. See my point? I am happy your wife loves New Orleans. And you two have fun down here. Keep coming. We love our tourists. We have more fun when sharing our good things with others.

This is actually a pretty tough question. All four of these cities really do have a lot to offer, even Kansas City has great food and really nice people. I mean, there are no shitholes like Philly and Detroit clogging up the list. There is one big thing, though, which gives one city a major edge..... If you've ever been to LA on a hot summer day, and you're a man with a functioning penis, the eye candy that will surround you completely puts LA over the top on this question. Not saying they are all sweethearts, but try walking down Sunset Strip on a Saturday afternoon without getting a hard-on, I dare ya! Ok, I can stereotype too. At least I don’t live in a shitburg white trash racist drunken Irish wife-beating town who suck Tawm Brady’s cheating dick like it cures cancer and yet have come to the mistaken conclusion that your elitist alcoholic Caucasian town is somehow better than everywhere else. You know what you call a girl from Boston with a black eye? Someone who had to be told twice. We all know where the real shithole is, somewhere near that rat-infested cat piss smelling 75 years past it’s prime dump you call Fenway Park. How was that example of stereotyping? As accurate as yours?

You hear from snowbirds that the snow is annoying, doesn't really prove much at all. Guess what, they still managed to travel down to NOLA to enjoy themselves so it can't be that bad. Pretty sure NOLA had a hurricane not long after I left that was worse than the 100 worst snowstorms to ever hit anywhere on the planet, combined. So while I take your point, I don't, and won't ever, EVER, acknowledge that shoveling a little snow and being mildly inconvenienced for (tops) 24 hours is somehow a worse plight than a hurricane destroying either of our respective cities. You being fortunate enough to never be truly affected by one doesn't make it water under the bridge (or through your living room). EDIT: The one thing I will grant you is that if you're from the south, yeah the winters are probably not going to be fun for you so I can at least understand that argument. But if your argument is that a hurricane is no big deal when we get snow annually (which is seems to be), I take issue with that, and frankly, anyone who has ever had to clean feet of water out of their house, and throw away ruined family heirlooms, destroyed cars and furniture, or worse, would agree with me. I digress and will leave it at that now. Jazz Fest!!!

Hurricane Katrina came and went with no significant damage to anyone. The floods came 24 hours later because of the corruption that has plagued the city like most big cities. I live in Jefferson parish (county). A neighboring parish of Orleans Parish. We didn't flood at all. Because all the money designated to strengthen our levees went to strengthening our levees. Unlike Orleans Parish. Where a lot of that money went into politicians pockets. We live on the same drainage canals Orleans Parish lives on. Our side didn't break. Their side did. I would rather put up with evacuating once every one or two years. Than deal with snow, ice and freezing temperatures every winter.

Whatever may or may not have happened in that hurricane, the complaints about snowstorms are pretty ridiculous. It's really not that big of an issue. It's not like when Atlanta got half an inch and it ruined the entire city. It's really fine. Some of us like the snow and the cooler temps and think those who complain about a cool breeze are giant pussies.

I know you're from Philly, so obviously reading and sentence comprehension isn't a strong suit of yours, but if you actually pay attention to what I wrote, I chose LA, not Boston. I'll try to type slower next time.....

And I get that that's your point, but it's ludicrous. No matter how you try to spin it, a snowstorm is less of a problem than a hurricane. You may not get those as often, but it's undeniably more of an issue.
