Platyhelminths are acoeolomate–they don't have a body cavity. It's unclear whether they have lost their body cavity or whether this is an ancestral state. Practically speaking, this means that their ability to develop organs is limited; they don't have space to develop organs in. Think about trying to grow a kidney in your thigh, where there is no body cavity. Even more practically speaking, it means they have a squashed look in cross-section. Nematodes are mostly pseudocoelomate–they have a body cavity that they can put more complex organ systems in. Practically speaking, this means that their organs are more complicated than platyhelminths.
