Marsatax has already covered this territory well enough.
Back on the old board, so far back that Chavez still had a brigade of lefty apologists, there was a poster from Venezuela there. They used to mix it up with the apologist crowd, pointing out the truth of the Chavez regime. The point person for the apologist crew on the old board was Briansouter, which both shows how long ago it was and how insane the Chavez apologists were.
My recollection is that the Venezuelan concentrated on the corruption and thievery of the Chavez crew, and did not have the "socialism" obsession.
With its rising popularity, socialism does need critiques. However, pointing at Venezuela and yelling "socialism" real loud is bound to have the opposite effect. And the AOC connection seems to be unique to your perspective.
"21 century socialism"? Is that how we're trying to cull our precious Venezuela from the herd of multitudinous and highly functional socialist societies and keep it safe as a "HERE'S WHERE SOCIALISM GETCHA" meme-worthy talking point?
The story behind the current state there goes well beyond socialism. I know nuance doesn't sell here, but it's worth trying.
It WAS on my list of places to visit, but I’m not sure I want to go now as I am not interesting in getting mugged...
It used to be beautiful but it was slowly destroyed by more and more leftwing governments. I'd recommend going ahead and visiting Cali if you haven't because it is quickly deteriorating faster than any other state.
Memo to Stephen Miller: she's from a "shithole country," and is also the most compelling reason to watch MSNBC.
No, I'm sorry; that's clearly Ari Melber!
Ari Melber from a "shithole country"? I am sure that there are some in Trumpworld that think of Seattle as a place where one should need a visa and a series of shots to visit, but it isn't quite there yet.
