Best picture: Green Book The Favorite Black Panther A Star is Born First Man If Beale Streats Could Talk Vice Roma KKKlansman Bohemian Rhapsody
Personal: I would put Can You Ever Forgive me instead of Vice, and Quiet Place may get in too)
Best director: Alfonso Cuaron Spike Lee Bradley Cooper Yorgos Lanthimos Peter Farrelly
Personal: I would put in Mariell Heller instead of Peter Farrelly but thats not gonna happen, Adam McKay or Barry Jenkins are more likely to end up there.
Best Actor Rami Malek Christian Bale Bradley Cooper Vigo Mortenssen John D Washington
Personal: I would put in Ethan Hawke instead of Washington. Just a more memorable and unique performance.
Best Actress Olivia Coleman Glenn Close Lady Gaga Melisa McCarthy Yalitza Aparicio
personal: Toni Collete should REALLY be there. But I am afraid she is not gonna.
Best Supporting Actor Richard E Grant Maharsalla Ali Timothy Chalamet Sam Elliot Adam Driver
This one I can actually get behind pretty much the way it is, if I had to I would trade Maharsala Ali for Michael B Jordan. I just loved his role in Black Panther.
Best Supporting Actress Regina King Rachel Weisz Emma Stone Amy Adams Claire Foy
Personal: Was not a fan of Claire Foy in First Man, would happily see Nicole Kidman in for either Erase Boy or Destroyer. But even Amy Adams is not on my personal list this year. Would rather see Emily Blunt.
Adapted screenplay Can you ever forgive me Black KKKlansman First Man A star is born If Beale Streats could talk
Personal: Black Panther should be there instead of Star is Born.
Original Screenplay Favorite Roma Green Book Vice First Reformed
personal: pretty ok with this one, if anything I would swap Vice for Hereditary but I know thats not gonna happen.
Cinematography Roma First Man Favorite Star is Born if Beale Streats Could Talk
Personal: I would go with Black Panther again.
Production design Favorite Black Panther Marry Poppins Roma First Man
Score Black Panther Favorite First Man Isle of Dogs Marry Poppins
Personal: pretty much ok with this one too.
Best song Shallow All The Stars Ill Fight (how topical) and 2 Marry Poppins, but neither will win. I hope.
Animation Spiderverse Isle of Dogs Incredibles 2 Mirai Ralph Breaks the Internet
Visual Effects Black Panther Ready Player One First Man Avengers Mary Poppins
Personal: I woulds much rather see Solo or Marwen in it but feel thats unlikely. Poppins has a much greater push and pull.
Documentary: Free Solo RGB Three Identical Strangers They Shall Not Grow Old - although they may not be eligible this year and I am really not sure who else to put there. Shirkers? gap? Wont You be My Neighbor

darkpast Personally I would drop Green Book but thats not gonna happen for sure, so I would say Vice is out and then BlackKlansMan. But my personal choice would be Green Book and Star is Born and I would put Can You Ever Forgive me there instead.

I don't think there will be many surprises. This is kind of a predictable year nominations-wise. I hope that Yalitza Aparicio gets a nomination as Best Actress and that Emily Blunt gets a nomination as Best Supporting Actress for A Quiet Place.

I hope that Yalitza Aparicio gets a nomination as Best Actress and that Emily Blunt gets a nomination as Best Supporting Actress for A Quiet Place. it does feel like that (like an easy year) but that makes me more suspicious actually. i bet there will be a couple of unexpected upsets. like Star is Born not nominated for Best Picture or Viggo for best actor...

Yalitza got in!!!!! Amazing feat considering this is her first acting gig ever. And she's a full-blooded native person.

Fair play to Melissa McCarthy and well done to the Polish guy that got the best director nom Still haven't seen a single thing on the whole list I went to a talk with richard e grant recently and he was so nice and extremelly funny and seemed very down to earth. was telling us how he is not that used to being treated as well as he has been since after this film, and shared with us that his drama teacher once told him he will never make a living as an actor on account of his looks. and it was just after he graduated from acting in college wow. imagine having such teachers. so I am extra happy that he is getting recognized at the oscars too. hope he wins.

I'm particularly pleased for Glenn Close (7th nomination), Amy Adams (6th nomination), Willem Dafoe (4th nomination), Emma Stone (3rd nomination) and Rachel Weisz (2nd nomination) who appear in the acting categories. Also (though I feel long overdue), Spike Lee's talent as a director being recognised, Paul Schrader's ability as a writer, and a first ever nomination for Louisiana jazz composer Terence Blanchard. Delighted for Lady Gaga too, because I like her fashion sense, stagecraft, music ... and I like her (nice tweet from Tony Bennett).
