The way it worked in the comics was that, after Barry died saving the last 5 earths in the multiverse, the heroes learned the Anti-monitor was traveling back to the beginning of time to rewrite history to his liking. At the time in the comics, the only point in time when history could be re-written was at the dawn of time. The heroes followed the Anti-Monitor to the dawn of time and had a battle with the Anti-Monitor. I forget how it climaxed, but cut to Superman from Earth-2 (the very first, original comic book Superman) waking up at the Daily Planet - confused, because his newspaper is the Daily Star, where he's editor. He runs into Superman from Earth-1 and they concluded that after the fight they somehow got transported back to the present and Superman-2 ended up on Earth-1. So they Find Jay Garrick and Wally West - Jay being from Earth 2 also - and they try to use the cosmic treadmill to access Earth-2, as they have in the past; only there's nothing there, just a void and Superman-2 feels like it's calling to him. They eventually learn that whatever happened at the dawn of time had the effect of resulting in only one timeline originating from that point, rather than a multiverse of infinite timelines; and there is now only one earth with a single merged history. Jay notes how people from Earth 1 now him and say he's been a hero on this earth for years; and others have similar accounts. Only those who traveled back to the dawn of time remember things as they were. Thanks for letting me know about that stargazer1682 . I still haven't read the 'Crisis On Infinite Earths' graphic novel but I plan on reading it sometime before they have the crossover episode and I hear one of the characters that has already appeared in the 'Arrowverse' was meant to be the Monitor's assistant in the comic books and she turned on him and killed him but people are saying it is unlikely they will bring her back for it 'cause the way they used her last time wouldn't make sense having her be with the Monitor now. How powerful is the Anti-Monitor supposed to be 'cause I have read some of the big comic book events where the superheroes faced Impreriex and the Spectre (when he went bad) and they were extremely powerful and it wasn't easy for the heroes to defeat them and as much as I would like to see the Spectre as a superhero on screen I wouldn't mind seeing a movie or show use him as evil 'cause he has the power of a God. Also why does Anti-Monitor not look human like the Monitor if they are brothers? Does he have a human form and they just have him wearing a costume in the comic books or is the Monitor choosing to appear as a human and looks more like his brother? Okay, so background on the Monitor/Anti-Monitor - the Monitor isn't human, but rather some fantastical being formed I think the moon of Oa; while in the Anit-Monitor universe, Oa's opposite number was Qward, on that moon the Anti-Monitor came into being around the same time, both as the result of the failed experiment by Krona the Maltusian (the progenitor race to the Guardians of the Universe) in which Krona attempted to peer back to the dawn of time and witness the birth of the universe. It was this experiment which cause reality to fracture at the creation of the universe and form the multiverse; and infinite number of positive matter universes, but only one anti-matter universe. The Monitor was vastly powerful, and while he never physically met his counter-part, or "brother" in the anti-matter universe, each were aware of the other and how powerful they were; and challenged one another across dimensions in a battle that would force both into a state of hibernation for eons. They eventually came to and the Anti-Monitor set about to use an anti-matter cannon to send a shock wave of anti-matter through the multiverse, destroying each parallel universe one by one. With each universe destroyed, the Anti-Monitor became more powerful and the Monitor exponentially weaker. The Monitor began...monitoring Earth's history, across multiple universes, in order to find heroes from its past, present and future to defend their respective realities against the Anti-Monitor. Yes, the Monitor had an assistant, whom the Monitor had raised and had the ability to divide herself and travel between the different universes and recruit the heroes (and villains) to help during the Crisis. And she did murder the Monitor, however it was as the result of the Anti-Monitor infecting her with one of his shadow creatures and essentially possessing her to do his bidding; which the Monitor was aware of and had planned for. Her name is Lyla Michaels, aka Harbinger. That's right, John fucking Diggle's wife. It took me ages to realize that. I couldn't believe how that just sort of flew under a lot of people's radar.

Wow. Thanks again for explaining all that to me. Yeah. I didn't realise that either and it makes me wonder if Lyla is going to play a big part in the crossover episode now and if they will put her with the Monitor they will obviously have to change a few things in comparison to the comic books if they decide to do that but it wouldn't be the first time they have in the 'Arrowverse' shows and there are quite a few Lyla fans I have seen and talked to on other sites that want to see her in the shows more and are hoping she takes Felicity's spot in the final season as a season regular and I think that is possible and I also still think there is a good chance Lyla and Diggle could both end up going to 'The Flash' after 'Arrow' has finished. I am curious over what role the Reverse Flash is going to play in 'Crisis' and did he play a big part in the comic book or wasn't he in it 'cause the way they have brought him back, had him escape and the date change for when Barry disappears makes me think he is going to be involved in it some way but I think they will keep him around until the final season. Unless Sherlock or Harry returns next season it looks like Tom's main role will be as the Reverse Flash now and I wouldn't mind seeing Harry and Jessie come back.
What do you see happening in 'The Flash' next season? According to a lot of sites Red Death is supposed to be joining and could be the main villain and Red Death could lead to Doctor Fate coming too and that would be a great character to get in for the big crossover event and if this is supposed to be the biggest threat they have faced I would like to see some new superheroes join the fight and possibly some old ones too. As much as I didn't like their versions of Hawkman and Hawkgirl in a big event like this it would make sense for them to return and Wally, Jessie and Superman should return too and I have seen some people saying Superman will be in it and he will die instead of Supergirl.

Yeah, I have no clue if they'll use Lyla to fulfill her comic book role or not; it's hard to say. She's pretty far away from her comic book counterpart. This is what she looks like in the comics: I mean, the resemblance is uncanny, right? I also don't know about John and Lyla going over to The Flash. Maybe on a recurring basis similar to how often we'd see Singh, but the main cast is so crowded as it is, they regularly write off main characters after a season just to make room for the next new person they're going to bring in the following year. A side note about Lyla/Harbinger - she actually died during the arc that reintroduced Kara Zor-El as Supergirl for the first time since Crisis; however many years ago that was. I forget if there was special name of the story arc, but they made an animated adaptation of the storyline a few years back. As memory serves, Reverse Flash did not factor in Crisis at all, as he was, at that time at least, dead. RF attempted to murder Barry's fiance at the time (possibly on the day of their wedding) and Barry caught up to him and broke his neck; then willingly went on trial as the Flash, in order to allow justice to be served and it was found that his use of lethal force was justified and was acquitted of the charges. He then ran to the future, where he had learned that the previously thought deceased Iris had been reborn to her natural parents (because apparently she was originally born in the future and sent back in time for some reason, and was never told this). They get married and she gets pregnant. I don't know long after that Barry is still around with her, but ultimately the Anti-Monitor plucks him out of time and imprisons him, for fear that he would be able to stop him. And of course he eventually does, or at least he stops one of his plots; destroying the Anti-Matter canon (I think that's what he destroyed) by running really fast around it - basically if you recall what Barry did at the end of season 2 to stop Zoom; that was at best an homage/foreshadowing (at worst a rip off) of what Barry did in the comics during Crisis. But instead of splitting off a time duplicate who sacrifices himself, it's just Barry; and because of the speeds he's achieving, images of him begin to be projected to people he knows on Earth, but in the past. So early issues of Crisis had a few random moments of characters like Batman seeings flashes of the Flash; which was later revealed to be the Flash weeks later, running to destroyed the Anti-Monitor's machine, gradually dying and fading to nothing until only his suit was left behind. That would suck to kill off Superman right after giving him a kid. They better not pull that shit. I'm already pissed off about how they handled Lena at the end of last season. The only prediction I've had so far about what may likely be in store for Crisis on TV compared to the comic book, is that I anticipate them having "Old" Felicity show up alongside the Monitor moments before it appears Oliver will die and some sort of bullshit about their great love story will go down, where either she helps avoid his fate - because they've been pretty hamfisted about him dying, so I won't be surprised if they go for a twist and have him live; and as a result change that fucking bleak future they showed last year. They could have "Old" Felicity sacrifice herself so Oliver could live; which would be a cheat, because young Felicity would still be around.... Mainly I'm anticipating the Monitor will open some sort of pocket dimension for Oliver and Felicity to go through where they can live happily ever after; because that's what Superman and Lois from Earth 2 did at the end of Crisis in the comic book and these moronic writers seem to think Oliver and Felicity have the same sort of iconic love as fucking Superman and Lois God damn Lane.....
