Big dumb harmless fun featuring some laughably absurd action sequences. The Rock & Statham had some great shit talking scenes between the two of them. Also dug a certain cameo that was pretty funny early on.
6.5/10

seems like you didnt wait for the after credits scene Nope lol. Please spill the beans! Ryan Reynolds comes back and calls Hobbs again and basically they plot another action. While Shaw is being apprehended by the cops it seems. Pretty funny.

I saw a clip from this film showing Johnson holding an airborne helicopter at the end of a chain -- with one arm. (FYI: He's not playing a super-powered superhero in this.)
These "F&F" flicks are just too moronically stupid for me. Pass.

The FAST AND FURIOUS franchise went from relatively-serious street-racing movies to over-the-top heist and/or espionage movies. That's when the critics and moviegoers' response became positive, because the makers had decided to embrace the sillyness. However, that doesn't mean we'll just accept everything they'll throw at us. Every fictional universe has to follow its own logic. In HOBBS & SHAW, BRIXTON LORE (the antagonist) has been genetically altered to become a half-robot with a special ability and he wears a particular suit. So... He's a super-villain. There's nothing wrong with super-hero movies, but that's not what this series has been about. Even when the stunts defied the laws of physics, it never felt like it crossed the line of sci-fi/fantasy. In the previous 4 installments, we had a big group of colorful characters and, therefore, lots of funny one-on-one interactions. Here, we don't see DOM TORETTO and co. (although they still managed to cram in messages about family). There are only 3 heroes, so there aren't a lot of 2-character combinations to do. Plus, the title characters' banter doesn't work. They yell childish insults at each other, but there's not enough self-awareness. The jokes seem to be designed to make the viewer laugh at what they're saying rather than at them for thinking that they're being funny. In fact, in every other situation, they act like badasses. Too bad, because Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are usually at their best when they make fun of themselves. There isn't a single exciting action sequence. In fact, the level of editing, while not as excessive as a lot of modern action movies, doesn't really showcase the fights (even though the lead actors are a wrestler and a martial artist). Plus, the climax consists of mostly fake-looking slow motion effects. Are we sure that David Leitch directed this movie? The 1st of the 2 post-credits scenes is the entire movie in a nutshell: Unfunny and unnecessary long. Also, I don't care about release dates; a fictional story spoiling another fictional story is a big no-no in my book. That being said, the performances aren't bad and I liked how a culture that most people don't know much about was incorporated into the plot and even the action. 3/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.
