I still think Tom Cruise will be the Mummy in the end.

The Mummy looks like the result of Apocalypse(X-Men) stealing the body of Enchantress(Sucide Squad).

i have to admit that i didn't really like the trailer, i kind of liked the comedy element in the other Mummy films and this version just seems to be any Cruise action film, but with a Mummy thrown in
But trailers can be misleading and there have been plenty of films that i have enjoyed even after a lukewarm trailer and plenty of films i haven't enjoyed, despite a very promising trailer
So i will more than likely watch the film, but it isn't a must watch and something i am dying to see

The trailer didn't do much for me, but the idea that this will be the start of a new Universal Monster series is exciting....

I'd bet money that if Cruise were replaced with say RDJ or Chris Pratt everyone would be stoked for this. That being said people complained for the lack of horror elements of the Fraser films and now we seem to be getting a good balance + some good stunts from the lead actor people are suddenly uninterested. Also a 2nd time director who's writing credits are iffy isn't helping, oh well.

The line "She has plans for you" certainly was ominous. The rendition of Paint It Black in this trailer along with the action has sold me on this flick and I'm not even crazy about Tom Cruise.

Everyone knows that the Fraser movies were not the originals right? Fraser's mummy was a remake just like this one.

However I will say the tone was very different which is why most people consider them to be "original". I personally like the first two of Fraser's Mummy movies, and I'll admit even the 3rd is a guilty pleasure of mine.

I still haven't watched the 3rd. It's funny that Tom Cruise is in this one because he was actually considered for Rick in the Fraser movies, but I'm kinda glad that they didn't I don't think he would have fit. Tom definitely fits this one more.

Honestly it looks terrible, might be Cruise's worst movie yet. It seems they have gone away with any real mythology/archeology adventure theme, and just made a supervillain mummy monster with a pretty face, doing CGI tricks with the heroes on a "wild ride"....in modern cities and modern technology. Just looks incredibly boring.

I'm in. I'm expecting an action flick with excellent effects worth seeing on the big screen. I doubt the script will be anything special, but that's not why I'm going. I also love Tom, even if he is nuts.
Really though, when did Russell Crowe start looking like John Goodman??? His character is Dr. Henry Jekyll...is this going to be a segue to a Jekyll and Hyde film starring Russell Crowe?

I admit, it was a long while ago and in a book I held in my hands- so no link to be given, but in the article, they discussed the idea of Dr.Jekyll (Russell Crowe) being sort of a Nick Fury to all these monsters, so he may not have his own movie but there will be a few scenes in each of the other movies. I hope that it turns out that way, because he's one of my favorite actors and it would make Tom Cruise bearable, to get Crowe in there. And as for the shared universe, I really hope they keep DRACULA UNTOLD in there, as there is some set-up in the final scene and Luke Evans was an excellent Vlad. I don't know if there has been another actor cast as Mr.Hyde, or if they are going to have Crowe play both sides.
I don't know who all on here browses Tumblr, but someone took a freeze frame of an image in the new TV spot/extended trailer, of a skull suspended inside water/gel. The skull has fangs that look straight out of a vampire film. It was pointed out that THE MUMMY could hint at there being vampire out there, or may outright say it at some point in the film. At the very least, this group Dr.Jekyll works for, seem interesting.

I liked it! Looks like a fun ride. I don't know what all the people are complaining about. What exactly were you expecting? It's a Tom Cruise action/adventure flick, not a Chris Nolan documentary about mummies.
Gotta hand it to Cruise, even at this age he is doing some crazy stunts. Even the action legends like Sly and Arnold in their prime rarely did their own stunts.

Exactly, although I think Nolan is overrated so unless Cruise was in his film I doubt I'd watch it. =) I agree Sly, Arnold, Willis (in his prime) never did anything like Cruise is doing now, well Cruise has actually been doing insane stunts for well over a decade. He may be crazy out of a movie set in a different way, but he is cinemas greatest show (when it comes to action).
